BREAKING: Sir Keir Starmer has accused JD Vance of trying to 'interfere in our democracy' and 'stir up division on our streets' after the vice president blamed Henry Nowak's murder on the 'mass invasion of migrants' A Number 10 spokesperson said: “In recent days we have seen people trying to interfere in our democracy and seeking to stir up division on our streets. “The Nowak family are grieving after Henry’s horrific murder. They have said they do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension. We should be respecting their wishes. “Our politics should bring people together even in the most terrible of circumstances. That is who we are as a country.”

Nigel Farage is trying to exploit Henry Nowak’s murder to divide people – exactly what Henry’s father asked us not to do. We need a different kind of politics that brings people together to stop knife crime.

@ZiaYusufUK George Floyd was murdered by the Police. Henry Nowak was murdered by a criminal & disgustingly treated by the Police. Two different cases. I will not relent.

All the same politicians who spoke of “rage” and “unspeakable fury” and forced a cultural revolution after George Floyd now demand “calm” and “no politicisation” after Henry’s murder. The reason is simple. George Floyd was black. Henry Nowak was white. We will not relent.

Keir Starmer accuses Nigel Farage of "exploiting" the death of Henry Nowak with his call for people to respond with "pure, cold fury". The Reform leader criticised 'two tier policing' and warned that violence in Southampton was "in danger of getting considerably worse" if public lost faith in police. A clearly furious Starmer told MPs that Farage's words were "unforgivable". "I don't believe there is two-tier policing in this country. I am really shocked that he pretends to have respect for Henry's family and then behaves in this way. "The grieving family has asked us not to respond in the way the Reform leader has done. They made a simple plea to us as human beings not to exploit that. "His response has been to appeal for rage. Rage. That's his response to a father who has lost his son and asked this not to happen. "Exploiting that tragedy to create division would be wrong in any circumstances. To do it when the family are expressly saying 'please don't' is unforgivable. "It shows exactly who he is".

@narindertweets They're desperately trying to relate what happened to George Floyd showing they don't care about Henry at all it's all about point scoring. The victim had a fatal wound to his heart he was not going to survive police should have done better but Digwa did this not police.

I owe Nigel Farage an apology. During last night’s Newsnight we covered the murder of Henry Nowak and the political reaction to the case, including discussing Nigel Farage’s comments about “pure, cold rage”. However I referred to “white cold rage”. This was a mistake on my part, a misremembering of the quote. It didn’t change the content of the interview but I should have got the quote right. I apologise to Nigel Farage for this.

@JackHadders How is this helping? How does this comply with Henry’s parents request? What has that police officer got to do with any of it? This ridiculous behaviour is why the right get a bad name.

Angry protesters confronted the police in Southampton, demanding they “bend the knee and pay their respects to Henry” Nowak. “What are you gonna do? Put me in cuffs and kill me?” said one after the police told them it was in the hands of the IOPC

@spikedonline What I don’t understand is that even if the police believed that he had uttered some racist words, why did they restrain him like this? He was not attacking anyone. Being aggressive. He was slumped against a wall.

The Nowak family are a credit to this country It speaks volumes to their character that, while grieving, they called for Henry's murder not to be used to cause division Sick individuals, like Farage & Robinson, dishonour Henry's memory by using his murder to further their hate
