Just done my last report for @5liveSport ending 51 yrs at the Beeb & 44 in the Sports Dept. My decision. Will remain on this platform, fulminating & eulogising in equal measure. Thanks for listening & ( usually) the supportive feedback.

@Kevin_Maguire That's your take on this? Far right blah blah blah! This tweet will hang around your neck like an albatross Kevin as it's so ill-timed and lacks any humanity. I actually feel sorry for you tonight.

@EPLBible Bruno is NOT playing the ball. Clever and he rightfully gets a foul. I am not a Liverpool fan but NEVER a RED - Yellow was appropriate IMHO.

Surely this should have been a red card for Gravenberch… What’s the difference with this and Gordon’s challenge? 🤔

@henrywinter Maybe double the time that is deliberately wasted on throw-ins. Kirkez guilty on many throws of time wasting IMO.

Lot of talk about how long the ball’s in play for, whether tactical time-wasting etc. Definitely short-changing match-going fans and viewers, so PGMO announced 8-second rule on goalkeepers.  Wonder if they will look at time spent on throw-ins which seem to be taking longer.

The story that has dominated the summer. The question that everyone needs to be answered. The defining issue of the transfer window. Is Indy Kaila like a real thing now? I am a serious journalist who has nearly won several awards. So I investigated. bit.ly/478SXyq

@Declancarr96 Newcastle were reported widely as wanting £150m upwards so it was low. He’s an exceptional talent.

@HLTCO So explain Wissa's situation at Brentford. How is this different?

@AndyKerrtv Look at the Wissa situation. Newcastle offering a derisery £25M. Low-ball offers and players effectively going on strike go beyond Isak.

@RobGutmann Whatever the “broken promises”, Rob, and clearly there’s been upheaval (Staveley/Mitchell/Eales), £110m v low for a player of his calibre and with 3 years on contract. Offer a more acceptable figure (and earlier) and negotiate. Hughes is the best around at this. Enjoy the season.

On the “Civil Wor” at Newcastle, maybe if Liverpool had acted earlier and offered a proper fee for Alexander Isak, a world-class centre-forward with three years left on his contract, Newcastle would have had time and funds to bring in a suitable replacement. £110m was disrespectful to Newcastle (and Isak). And who are Newcastle going to get at this late stage of the window with suitable targets moved elsewhere? Yoane Wissa is not like for like. Newcastle need two anyway with Callum Wilson gone. It’s very easy to see why Newcastle and their proud, tough owners who don't like losing - or losing face - are playing hard-ball and determined to keep Isak. The saga continues. #NUFC #LFC

@henrywinter How is this any different to Newcastle's pursuit of Wissa? They offered £25M which is considerably below market value and the player is effectively on strike pushing for a move.

🚨 | Alejandro Garnacho will only be allowed to leave Manchester United if Chelsea MATCH their £50m price-tag. United believe all evidence points to their valuation being entirely fair and accurate. [@MikeKeegan_DM, @NathSalt1]

@FabrizioRomano Let's just get a fair price for him and wish him well. He has burnt his bridges at OT. He'll struggle as his finishing is an issue at the highest level. He'll realise one day that he has left a truly great club to become a bit-part player at swanky-wanky Chelsea!

🚨🔵 Chelsea are advancing in club to club talks for Alejandro Garnacho! Deal underway with Man United. Excellent relationship between United CEO Berrada and Chelsea hierarchy. Garnacho only wants #CFC and turned down an approach from Bayern in last 48h; no chance.

Short of cutting his arm off it’s difficult to know what Tarkowski’s supposed to do. Refs told to look for 3 things with handball. Deliberate movement of arm away from body. None. Clear additional arm movement. None. Arm position makes body position bigger & is unjustifiable. No.

@henrywinter Good analysis Henry. I would welcome your views in our central defense where we have been too easily bullied last season.

Another strong performance from Patrick Dorgu on tour. Left wing-back had promising link-up with left-sided 10 Mount v Bournemouth (as with Cunha v West Ham). Bought to fit Amorim’s 3-4-2-1, needed time to settle in (and the team were a mess), now fully up and running fast. Physically and temperamentally attuned to the many demands of the role. Good finish for his goal (though poor defending/keeping; btw great awareness and delivery by Mount). Only pre-season but hugely encouraging for Amorim's implementation of his system. Dorgu brings an intensity and hunger that United need, still only 20, will get even better. #MUFC
