FM urges PSBs to change HR policies, ensure branch staff know local language.
The Finance Minister spoke. But who listens? 😡
What are the @DFS_India directors doing inside banks if they can’t even ensure implementation of the FM’s clear instructions?
FM @nsitharaman called for restoring the human touch in banking and urged that branch staff connect with customers in their local language. But on the ground, HR departments in most PSBs have done the exact opposite.
The so-called Head Office experts — who rarely serve in branches — have turned HR into a harassment machinery. Their obsession is not reform, but “maximum transfers per year” as a performance goal.
Yes, you read it right.
In many banks, the more transfers an HR officer orders, the higher their APAR score.
Empathy has been replaced by ego. Connection replaced by control.
The Finance Minister’s message was about respect, language, and connection with people. Yet HR in PSBs has twisted it into a cycle of relocation, disruption, and humiliation for frontline staff.
True reform doesn’t begin in spreadsheets — it begins in hearts.
Bankers who serve people deserve respect, not revenge in the name of transfers.
When the ‘human touch’ turns into ‘human toll,’ the entire purpose of public service collapses.
