So, there’s a new online shopping scam on the rise. Read on to save yourself from it👇 One of my relatives recently ordered clothes from a website called “Ethno Trend.” She spent ₹3,000, for outfits. The package arrived via DTDC courier. But, clothes were completely different and the quality was so cheap it probably cost them ₹100 max. There is no phone number on the website. Only one email which will be never replied back. To connect to them, I placed a dummy order because they call you up to confirm when you order. A woman finally called me, and I told her about the previous order. She laughed. When I mentioned I'll report to police she yawned. Probably bored by banality of this statement and responded in heavy Gujrati accent, “Haan haan. Accha hai. Chalo fir bye.” So, I Googled around, and turns out there are hundreds of similar fake online shopping websites running the same con of which people have complained in past. They send you fake items, collect cash through DTDC, and there’s no direct payment option online so they can dodge getting caught. DTDC should technically hold some responsibility for handing over your money to scammers, but they’re just not. The sheer creativity and variety of scams these days is staggering. So be very careful.
