Meet H.C. Verma, the man who wrote India's most feared physics textbook because a great American book simply didn't speak to Indian students. Born in Darbhanga, Bihar in 1952, he studied at Patna Science College, then earned his M. Sc. and Ph. D. at IIT Kanpur. In 1980, he returned to Patna Science College as a lecturer, teaching physics to 11th and 12th standard students using Resnick & Halliday, a textbook he admired deeply. But he kept watching bright students disengage before they ever reached the beauty of the concept. The book was written for American classrooms, its language and cultural references built around a life these rural Bihar students had never lived. He couldn't find an Indian alternative, so after years of teaching, he built one himself: Concepts of Physics. He moved to IIT Kanpur in 1994, pursued nuclear physics research, published 139 papers, and kept teaching long after retiring in 2017. He co-founded Shiksha Sopan, which still runs programs for around 250 families near the IIT Kanpur campus, and in 2021 he received the Padma Shri for his contribution to physics education. He didn't just translate a foreign textbook, he rebuilt it from the ground up for the students it was never written for.

Set a deadline my boy. Not a comfortable one. A scary one. Pressure is what gets shit done. This is a warning, not an advice.

British Indian Civil Services question paper from 1878. What do you think? How much have civil services changed in the past 150 years? Has it become easier or tougher?

Meet Shweta Bharti. She comes from a middle-class family in Bihar. After engineering, she got a job at Wipro. Quitting her job to prepare for UPSC wasn't an option due to family financial conditions. So every day she woke up at 5 AM, studied before office, worked a 9-hour shift, and studied again after coming home. No expensive coaching.
Just self-study. She first cracked BPSC and became a District Programme Officer. But that wasn't her final goal. She kept going... And eventually cracked UPSC with AIR 356, becoming an IAS officer.

Unfortunately, there is one variable none of us can control: 'Timing' Some batches graduate during recessions... Others graduate during hiring booms.. Two equally talented people can have completely different careers simply because they entered the market at different points in history.. The 2009-10 graduates experienced it.. The 2024-26 graduates are experiencing it now..1

@Shinde_Revati21 @venom1s Walk naked, who's stopping you. Ultimately it's my body my choice. I am ultra feminist and liberal. Why even wear bikni. Remove everything. We don't care.

Once upon a time, the poor were forced to sexualize themselves for money. The modern world is so messed up that even princesses are getting naked to seek attention from random men. Before anyone barks and says that wearing a bikini at the beach is perfectly normal, no, it isn't. The bikini was designed and promoted to boost beach tourism by sexualizing women. Even the so-called tan concept is a corporate gimmick. The one who started this trend, Coco Chanel herself, hated revealing attire.
