Did you know? 💭 Until the mid 19th century, most fires were fought by water transported to the scene in buckets. Modern day fire hoses deliver a steady water supply from the hydrant to the engine. They’re powerful enough to fight major fires, requiring firefighters to work in teams to control the force.

On National K9 Veterans Day, we honor their service, dedication, and the incredible impact of working dogs everywhere.

For more than 25 years, Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue has partnered with law enforcement to find and assist lost or injured individuals. With the addition of a newly awarded rescue basket, the team can now transport patients safely and more efficiently. Replacing their old single-piece basket, the new two-piece system gives crews greater mobility and flexibility.

Enhancing lifesaving efforts in Fort Walton Beach, Florida! Okaloosa Island Fire District received a $7,936 grant to purchase extrication equipment, giving them the tools to provide stabilization during emergencies. 🚗

Southern Louisiana firefighters' response capabilities received a major upgrade! 💪 Five departments now have critical lifesaving, ranging from all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to chest compression devices. “Our first responders face emergencies every day with limited resources, and this new equipment will make an immediate difference.” - Firehouse Subs Franchisee Josh Culbreth.

Congratulations to Pinch Volunteer Fire Department on receiving new automated external defibrillators (AEDs)! 👏 With their crew responding to 50 to 60 cardiac emergencies each year, these devices are critical for supporting lifesaving care across their district.

Following in Smokey the Bear's footsteps, Knox County Fire Bureau in Tennessee is strengthening their communitity's resilience against wildfires! With their newly granted all-terrain vehicle (ATV), first responders can proactively clear dry, flammable brush and prevent property loss during wildfire season.

On Random Acts of Kindness Day, we’re reminded that kindness can truly be lifesaving. Because of an automated external defibrillator (AED) provided by the Foundation, and the quick actions of a trained team, a student’s life was saved at the North Florida School of Special Education. The AED allowed the team to deliver care immediately, bridging the critical minutes until first responders arrived. Thank you to our donors and partners who helped make this lifesaving moment possible, our gratitude is immeasurable.❤️
