What a time life has been. I helped my husband get a job at my hospital, he started having an affair with someone, and I found out and divorced him.

This is Shlomo Ron. When Hamas terrorists invaded his home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, this 85-year-old frail man had a plan. He left his wife, daughters and grandson in the shelter, and went to sit in his living room, waiting for his death. He figured that when terrorists break in they will see him, execute the lonely old man, and move on. He was right. He’s a hero who sacrificed himself for the people he loves. May be rest in peace.

I get asked a lot about gym anxiety… So, you want to get in shape? That’s great. You head off to the gym and walk through those double doors only to be hit with anxiety from the sounds of machines moving, weights clanking, and a space full of in-shape sweaty people blasting music working out. You may think that somehow you don’t belong. These people have been working out for so long. Of course they’ll realize you don’t know how to use the machines, or will notice you picking up the lightest weight, or will get annoyed with you having to ask for help right? I know because that was me. Everyone was new to the gym once. Everyone had their first day not knowing much or anything about working out or the rules of the gym. That not only means that this fear is natural, it means that everyone else in that gym can relate to you. They were once in your shoes too! The majority of the gym community is happy to help you figure out a machine if you ask nicely, and will welcome anyone coming in to start working hard to better themselves. And guess what, the more you show up, the more those people will notice. Before you know it, you’ll be smiling and nodding at the familiar faces in the gym everyday and they will root for you as your demeanor and physique begin to change. Then, a few months down the road, someone will walk through those gym doors just like you did, nervous at seeing all those in-shape people, and you’ll be able to understand what they are going through and pay your warm welcome forward to them. That’s what the gym community is all about. It’s a brother and sisterhood. Be brave, work hard, and we can all make the gym and the world a more welcoming place for all.

@tonyposnanski This happened to me the other day, I was the 1 item person. BUT the lady behind me also had 2 items. So if you let 1 in front of you, do you let 2!? No, you don't. You scan your 20 items and leave.

I have a question and I want an honest answer. No one will be judged either way. If you are at the supermarket and you have 20 items, whether you are at self checkout or human scan...and the person behind you has one item...do you let them go ahead of you?

First time I’ve ever had an ICU tell me it’s ok for nurses to pronounce TOD. Every hospital I’ve worked at it always has to be a physician

I was a medical student when I met him. He was patient. Brain dead, they called it. Devastating news. A family whose lives were changed forever. Yet through his death, he saved lives. The incredible gift of organ donation. Then, 2 years later, something unexpected happened 🧵

My closest encounter with the mafia is I went to a starkly empty pizza place in Rhode Island once, they seemed utterly confused that I wanted a pizza, it took 45 minutes to make, they gave it to me for free, and it was the best pizza I’d ever had.

During power outages or extreme heat, DON"T stay home without air conditioning. Consider going to libraries, museums, shopping malls. Find Community Cooling Centers near you by contacting your local Office of Emergency Management, or enter your zip code at 211.org

The day I registered for graduate school, I told the clinical director that the loan amount made me nervous. He said, and I quote, "Don't worry about it. After you graduate, it will be manageable." Since he already had his doctorate, I believed him. 1/3

@savingthedocto1 @jennifer425_ @DrAmyPsyD The "cash price" is just the price. I'm not sure where you attended, but this isn't how college works. Your method of payment doesn't change the cost.

@savingthedocto1 @WaitHereThen @DrAmyPsyD Look I don’t know anything about finance laws but surely they’re got to be a law against something as predatory as 4x-ing the cost for someone using government loans. Like, is this not defrauding the government to some degree?

@savingthedocto1 @DrAmyPsyD I’ve never heard of a school offering a cash discount. I have seen payment plans to spread it out. I am dreading my kid going to college
