@james_rands I certainly remember newspaper being used (born 1957), but as others recollect it was not used directly on the fish and chips. As a young boy, I was often sent to the fish and chip shop on a Friday , probably because I was quicker.

I would like to thank whoever it was who banned cigarette machines in pubs. This legislation came in particularly handy at nine o'clock last night in a village in the middle of nowhere where the only shop had closed an hour earlier.
