@SSBenfield @DrOzCMS There are struggling non-profit nursing homes that exist to serve their Medicaid residents and that do not receive enough funding to support that care. Not all nursing homes are for profit. HR1 is gutting already inadequate funding for these nursing homes across the country.

Nursing homes exist to make a profit. I understand that. I also understand that nursing home employees do not get paid enough for the heartbreaking and backbreaking work they do. Many leave- not because they don’t love their work and the residents but because you can’t live on CNA wages. Can you do anything about that? Maybe regulate salaries based on profit margins?

We have a shortage of qualified nursing home staff in every state in America, and that must change now. I’ve reached out to all 50 governors with an opportunity to tackle this issue and letting them know that CMS is investing over $75 million to train and keep the nurses we need to care for residents.

Literally on a @SouthwestAir flight and fellow passengers all talking and not happy about this — “they didn’t ask me”—and if they charge extra for assigned seats, this seems like a money maker to me, b/c w/ open seating, you only pay the fare unless you want priority boarding.

Mental health housing models are decades old. We are asking our direct care staff to perform miracles w/ old models & paying them less to do it. Our residents deserve to live in programs that meet today’s needs; staff deserve to work in modern models where residents can succeed
