Happy to announce that I've landed a position at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, and I'll be teaching courses in both the modern and early modern history departments.

No single party has ever had a majority of the vote since reunification in 1990. The last (and only) time it ever happened was for the CDU in 1957 under Adenauer, when they got 50.2%.
I doubt AfD will ever crack 30%, let alone 50%.

The German government is indeed a mess and the current regime will lose power, but Germany won't "fall." It will be replaced by a new coalition led by the CDU, probably with the SPD, so... a rather status-quo centrist government with a center-right (and not illiberal) Chancellor.

This is a dark time for Western liberalism. Autocratic & corrupt Trump has won in the US. The French government will fall tomorrow & France appears ungovernable. The German government will fall soon & is a mess. The UK government is there but weak. The Canadian government soon to fall.

Scholz says he'll do a confidence vote in January. He'll fail.
Next election will yield either: another Gro-Ko, or maybe CDU+Greens. That's it.
Let's hope that Trump gets along well with Friedrich Merz...

This book was the product of conferences in Gotha and Portland on religious plurality, and I'm looking forward to reading the other contributions.

@ZaidJilani The polling suggested that Brown would've been weakest against Dolan (of the 3 Rs), so Moreno is maybe a better opponent for him.
Dems could really use some Sherrod Browns in all red state.
And I agree with you. Brown didn't seem interested in having a nat'l profile, either.

@ZaidJilani Why do you think he might not want to?
My guess is that it would depend on whether Trump wins the election, too. Kemp may be too bipartisan minded for the Senate in the current era. It's still true that states can see Gov and Sen picks quite differently (national vs. local)
