Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss. As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed.

Spoke to 40yo woman in tears, she says she ruined her own family after her divorced sister pushed her to file false DV case against her husband, just to grab ₹90 lakhs. He’s a men’s rights follower & has been fighting it for 3 years. Now she’s crying. Who’s really to blame?

Alright and what about the Billions of $$ of loss your Air India is coping with every year? And it's just one Airline, what if Pakistan stops permitting all India-bound flights from using Pakistani airspace?? Your economy would tank and the common person would suffer. But to think that there has to be a common sense that is lacking in Indians.

India's middle-class should be grateful to Americans and Canadians who bought insurance, paid college fees, and saved for their retirement. $80-100 bn of their cash entered our ecommerce startups, only to be burnt on discounts to us. They've subsidised our consumption.

@MandarSawant184 IWT always existed as part of India's goodwill. Tragically, we learnt it quite late that you can't respond to terror with goodwill. Hopefully, lessons from that experience are baked into our policies henceforth.

arxiv.org/abs/2604.14228

Don’t wait for disease. Know your numbers. Most heart attacks, strokes & diabetes are predictable years in advance, if you track the right markers. For Indian adults, these cut-offs matter more than ever: 1. Blood Pressure (BP) Target: <130/80 mmHg Even “borderline” BP in Indians carries higher cardiovascular risk due to earlier vascular aging. 2. Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) <100 mg/dL Indians develop insulin resistance earlier, even at “normal” BMI. 3. HbA1c <5.7% Prediabetes starts silently. By the time glucose rises, damage has already begun. 4. Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) Ideal: <2 Insulin resistance (IR) is not routinely measured, but it is extremely useful in high-risk individuals. IR is a hidden driver of diabetes, fatty liver & PCOS. 5. Waist Circumference (Most important for Indians) Men: <90 cm Women: <80 cm 🔸“Thin outside, fat inside” (TOFI) phenotype is common. 🔸Waist circumference is better than BMI for risk prediction. 6. LDL Cholesterol Target <100 mg/dL (general) <70 mg/dL (high-risk) 🔸Lower is better; there is no “safe high LDL.” 7. HDL Cholesterol>50 mg/dL Low HDL is extremely common in Indians and amplifies risk. 8. Triglycerides (TG)<150 mg/dL High TG is an insulin resistance marker, not just a lipid issue. 9. TG : HDL Ratio<2 🔸TG:HDL ratio is one of the simplest markers of metabolic health. 🔸A ratio of 2 or more is insulin resistance until proven otherwise. 10. hs-CRP (inflammation marker)<2 mg/L Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease, not just high cholesterol. 11. ApoB (the underrated one) Target: <80 mg/dL (general) <65 mg/dL (high-risk) ApoB is better than LDL at predicting risk, as it counts actual atherogenic particles. 12. Sleep Duration Optimum: 7–9 hours/night Less sleep is associated with ↑ insulin resistance, ↑ BP, ↑ appetite, ↑ CV risk. ▶️What makes this crucial for Indians? 🔸Higher risk at younger age 🔸More visceral fat at lower BMI 🔸Greater tendency for diabetes & heart disease 🔸Normal-looking person does not mean low risk ▶️If you are above these thresholds, do not panic. Start with exercise, healthy diet, optimum sleep, and consistency. Consult your physician for individual opinion. Dr Sudhir Kumar @hyderabaddoctor (Disclaimer: This is not a medical consultation. The information provided here is general in nature, and applies to healthy people, who are not on medications. In any case, consult your doctor for individual opinion)

I second this. One of my uncle's was contesting on a BJP ticket and another was contesting on a NCP (SP) ticket in 2024 Vidhan Sabha. Both won their tickets. But my family was campaigning for BOTH of them, even though they were supposedly on opposite sides of the divide.
Wordita@wordi25

People shouldn’t fight over politicians & political parties. I knew a JDU politician’s daughter. When Nitish ji split with BJP in 2015, she used to criticize PM Modi and BJP constantly. Eventually her family campaigned under NDA umbrella, now daddy is a minister in Bihar 🫡

Let me add my ₹1. Manufacturers in the NCR, Noida belt, pay abysmally low salaries. I once visited a company where they were getting casual labour for ₹8000-₹10,000. This, while we are shelling out >₹17,000. I was aghast at how flippantly the owner was talking about it. What about minimum wages? I asked. He simply laughed. I realised the that there was no way companies like ours could compete on price with these guys. What you are seeing now, is possibly a long overdue correction. Having said that, the violence is probably politically motivated.

Maids in Delhi NCR get paid really well. This I know from personal experience. I really don’t understand who is instigating this demographic. Whoever it is, is doing them a huge disservice. Soon housekeeping will be taken over by corporate houses, it already is, for fraction of headache and quarter of charges. Professionalism you get is an added bonus. Soon no one will hire maids like they were hired in the past and no prizes for guessing who will lose out.

@Sumo_1973 @deepakgreat @Pivot2Centre Such kind of rhetoric doesn't impact the rich in anyway and only ends up harming middle class folks who are working hard to build the nation. People have every right to choose their school, just like they can choose their clothes. Better ask why govt schools are not run well.

I can’t stress this enough 1. Buy a dishwasher. Almost 80% of the utensils can be managed by the dishwasher. Only cooker, and few items require hand wash 2. Buy a Romba. The one with mopping capabilities 3. Buy a dryer along with washer You don’t need a maid. Once you don’t need a maid, your life will be much more flexible- you day won’t revolve around her timings. You can literally automate 70% of the work she does and you can get several hours back. Just hire someone from Urban company to do deep cleaning once a week or 2 weeks.

@Pivot2Centre Ironically, such protests are going to increase the demand for those machines. Auto/cab drivers got similarly disrupted by aggregators and now have to split income with them. That wouldn't have happened had they served patrons cordially.

@Sumo_1973 @Pivot2Centre Home services and gig working apps were designed to solve that problem. Doing dishes and cleaning floors is a solved problem. But painting, carpentry, gardening, plumbing, cooking etc. are hard problems and your knowledge compounds over time in these fields.

@dasrebel @thischeena @Goku33638545 @rohitshinde121 For every sepoy in that rebellion, there were 100s who fought on the side of EIC(good pay). Also, that rebellion arose because Britishers trespassed religious beliefs and it would still happen today if the government goes all guns blazing against two major religions in India.

So frustrating. When will Indians realize that this just pushes away businesses? Labor protections drive away the very wealth generators that society desperately needs.
