Today I ask: What sort of reception do politicians and Govt Ministers expect when they roll up in their Ministerial Mercs while their courteous hosts may be wondering if they’ll have to close their doors by month end?

@COSullivanTD Thanks Christopher for raising the issue and making such a strong case in the Dail , your absolutely correct it’s not that these businesses are empty or short of business it’s just not possible to absorb all of the increases at one time .
Its crunch time for Ireland’s hospitality sector
We can make decisions that will allow hospitality to flourish or sleepless nights for business owners continue.
For me the choice is simple. Split the VAT rate within hospitality. Reduce the VAT for food lead businesses to 9%.
We have to revisit the VAT rate for hospitality. The rough cost to the exchequer of a food only reduction to 9% would be €500m. Seems like a lot. But I’d imagine the cost of business closures is far greater.
I flagged the crisis facing the sector with the Taoiseach in March.
As we welcome in 2024 we would like to thank all our visitors, staff & board members for all the support throughout the year.
2024 will be a special year for the Model Village as we will celebrate 30 years in business! 🎉🎉

The extension to the Joe Walsh Walkway way in Clonakilty is open!
Fab news for everyone especially those future rugby stars who can now walk or cycle safely to Clonakilty RFC.
Well done @Corkcoco especially Seamus Daly and his team.
DRAUGHT BÁN IN SCANNELL’S BAR, CLONAKILTY
It’s pouring 💪.
Beautiful, crisp, Draught Stag Bán is now @scannellsbar 🍺📍.
And don’t forget, Scannell’s are running great trad sessions over the next few months in their beer garden 🎸🎵⛱.
Should go well with a Bán then 😉.
