Since we haven't had #MisfitMischief in, like, forever, here's a Friday night game if anyone wants to play. I peg Johnny as a Lords of the New Church fan so, in 1984, he was probably listening to Is Nothing Sacred? Or possibly Shabooh Shoobah.

What needs to be said is that @LeaderJohnThune is a coward of the most detestable kind. That should be his legacy in American history. To have his name elevated to that of Benedict Arnold's treason, because his cowardice is treasonous in its own kind. And may his family know 10 generations of ancestorial shame. That they never know rest, as everywhere they go, they hear 'coward' whispered all around them, even in private time, in the most Poe way possible. And this is the nicest thing he deserves.

A new Star Trek series, but it’s made by people who have actually watched and enjoyed the previous Star Trek series

I really do enjoy that DS9 refuses to water down Garak by redeeming him. He's multifaceted and helps the federation out of love for Cardassia but he's never fully redeemed. Garak loves his fascist planet no matter what even when he's exiled from it.

@fandompulse With all due respect, the series I think we were hoping for is one that would be led by Jeri Ryan, Ed Speleers, Michelle Hurd, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut and whoever is added, with the 70 year olds being fun occasional cameos

Marina Sirtis says no Hollywood studio will make Star Trek: Legacy: "Legacy is never going to happen. You know, you hate hearing the truth. There is not a single studio in America that is going to make a series where most of the leading actors are over 70 years old. I’m sorry, but just that’s just the truth. It’s just Hollywood. ... They decide what you want whether you want it or not. And I'll leave it at that." Is she right?

John Boyega implies Disney ruined his Finn character in the new Star Wars series because of racism: "You guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver. But when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know f*ck all. So what do you want me to say? What they want you to say is, ‘I enjoyed being a part of it. It was a great experience…’ Nah, nah, nah. I’ll take that deal when it’s a great experience. They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything."

This is almost criminal to botch the way they did. The concept was so exciting. All they had to do was have decent storylines and interesting characters played by attractive up and coming actors and it would have been a huge hit. Instead they tried to push it further left than ever before, alienating most of the fanbase. The leaders were under the impression that the fringe left of the fanbase should control the direction instead of the mainstream. Star Trek is so easy to write and have success. But they’re destroying it. And for all the “it’s always been liberal” crowd, Star Trek was morally correct in standing up for racial equality and empowerment of women and peace between the various ethnicities and nationalities. Those are valid and righteous values and Star Trek was justified in those stances. Pushing for multi-gender and trans issues is NOT moral. It’s unscientific and harmful to individuals and society. It is destructive and wrong.

JUST IN: Paramount will not renew "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" for a third season. Its second season was greenlit and in production before the first season, which has struggled to show up on Paramount+'s Top 10 charts, premiered.

@TheTrekCentral Good, flush that turd. Shortest run of any live action Star Trek. And would have been 1 season if they hadn't already shot 2. Lets be real. Hopefully they finally learn something from this.

Star Trek: The Next Generation writer Rene Echevarria on how he wrote his stories: "I try to tell my stories in a fresh way, that isn't on the nose and obvious. I try to illuminate new aspects of these characters--continuing characters that I haven't created--but I have to try to listen to their voices and make them richer and find depths to them that are consistent with everything that's come before. Sometimes it involves being truthful to a character you may not agree with. Worf, for example, has all sorts of cultural attitudes that I don't agree with, yet it's part of my job to illuminate him as faithfully as I can, to try to get under his skin. I did a show a couple of years ago ("Birthright") where Worf goes to a sort of prison camp, and for his own sort of racist reasons he turns the place upside down. You know, some people would criticize the episode--"Worf came in and ruined a perfectly good thing"--but that's what he would do; I'm not sure that it was a perfectly good thing anyway--they were not allowed to leave and they did not know the truth, and Worf did say that those who want to leave should be allowed to. That's all he really did, and no one ultimately was hurt. But his racist attitudes drove him and led him away from a woman that he was attracted to. So that's something that I try to keep in mind, that my politics can't drive me completely. . ." Do you agree with his approach?
