, The risks here are incredible. He could have easily been shot while getting in position behind the car. He could have been shot when charging out from behind the car. The gunman could have had a second gun or knife on him. The gunman could have had a suicide vest on, and blown them both up. There was the second shooter that could have targeted him. He could have been accidentally shot by police when holding the gun.

So apparently there was another gun waiting for the terrorist on the bridge where they were shooting, so this didn't really do much all things considered. I don't understand why you wouldn't just fire a shot there and then. For all we know he could've had a bomb in that backpack or another gun. Instead the guy throws a shoe at him after he just mowed people down. I get he would've been terrified and he did more than anyone else, but it feels like a testament to how little power the average Australian feels they have in the face of the law.
