@martinalexsmith @NathanpmYoung Probably worth pointing out that while UNSW has been able to sequence DNA for decades, the UNSW RNA institute was set up in response to COVID with serious cash from state government. @PalliThordarson has done a great job to bring us to this level of capability in a short time

@NathanpmYoung Story is legit: We did all the sequencing for Paul. Several university professors involved. We need more time to perform follow up experiments to see exactly which immune mechanisms are involved, and why a few tumours did not respond, but the takeaway is that this works!

I can understand if this story is false but Patrick’s take seems confusing.
Many people would pay $100,000s to cure a loved one of cancer. Either that’s possible or it’s not.

Sorry to be the downer because this is an impressive story in some senses. But it is ~trivially easy to make a single mRNA vaccine. It's not hard. I cure mice of various cancers with various therapeutics all the time. I've made mice lose more weight in a month than tirzepatide does in a year. What is hard and expensive is proving its BOTH safe AND effective **in a randomized and controlled study in humans** while ALSO manufacturing it at clinical scale and grade. I am happy for this man and his dog. It is impressive. But y'all are overhyping it.

Seems crazy that in an English-speaking country the government keeps coming up with place and street names most people can’t pronounce. One Nation will preserve traditional names linked to our shared history and restore them where necessary. This silliness needs to stop.
