Interesting observation from an eng manager: “As soon as I know some text is AI-generated: I lose all interest in reading it. For performance reviews, I asked people to either not use AI or if they must: just write down the prompt so I don’t need to go thru the word salad.”

@GergelyOrosz Love these types of engineers! Always decouple perf from the price I'd pay to keep someone. Two different things, both meaningful, but very different.

There was this engineer on my team a while back who was: a good dev, but not the best dev. Got everything done. But had zero ego, a very nice personality, and got along with *everyone* on the team very well. When he joined, the team became... better. Nicer. More balanced.

@sirius_callus It's a different kind of strategy and it doesn't quite translate. War strategy is probably a better fit. Or just straight up business strategy. Plenty of books out there.

@BraydenWilmoth I think the naming is what threw me off, as evidenced by your renaming here. Should've just called it a Durable Worker or Stateful Worker or something related to workers. I initially thought a Durable Object was a storage service.

Day 2: Stateless vs Stateful Object Todays post is a WILD re-imagination of what Workers and Durable Objects might be defined as in another world. StatelessObject = Worker StatefulObject = Durable Object Both can be directly accessed and share class definition structure.

It also made me realize: - Being AI-first means your stack is going to be very different - Full-stack engineers (i.e. generalists) will rise to the top - Engineering leaders to be technical and hands-on

I learned a ton building an AI chatbot (knuman.ai) and here's the stack I found worked for me: - Cloudflare Pages and Workers - Supabase - Expo - Gemini w/grounding and function calls
