There's no surprise a country that still cheers for the leafs in the playoffs is falling for this crap. I stopped watching sports during covid because of the actions of the leagues and owners. When I mentioned to people who I was rooting for to win the cup last year I said Florida. People were shocked that I didn't say Edmonton, based soley on the fact that they believed because I'm canadian I should cheer for the Canadian team. Why though? I live in southern Ontario. First of all, I'm geographically closer to Florida, I grew up in Toronto on the eastern side of the country, so I'm culturally closer to Floridians's than Edmontonians, Edmonton is full of commie voting left wing NDP losers and I'm the furthest thing from that. I'm pro 1st and 2nd amendment like Floridian's are and want to adopt the US constitution here, I have family that immigrated there back in the 60's to escape what they saw coming here even back then, and I was against covid mandates and masking like people in Florida were. The fact of the matter is I'm way more like an American than I am Canadian and I've always known this. I, like many other Canadians grew up on American TV and consumed American brands and culture. I watched the local American affiliate stations and listened to American Radio. Sure I own a roots sweater or two, but for the most part I consume virtually nothing Canadian. I did however use to feel Canadian but that was a very long time ago. I don't like this country at all anymore, so why should I root for a team that's nothing like me? Their minds were blown. Some got it, but most couldn't do the math. This is why Canada will continue to fail. The average Canadians inability to see the forest through the trees or the writing on the wall is what will bring this once great nation to its knees. The arrogance, ignorance and lies from our media and politicians are to blame. Canadians are in love with the idea that being Canadian means something, that we should be proud. But when the answer to "what is a Canadian" is "well we're not american" or that we simply thrive because of that fact, you know there is nothing left. Canadains don't realize that they're holding on to the same nostalgia that Mark Carney scoffs at. This country has been forever damaged and is completely gone. No identity, no real purpose, no future. Canada is longer the place of your childhood memories, no longer prosperous, no longer safe. We're subject to a government that wants to disarm us both physically and mentally, full to the brim with a new population that doesn't care about our values or traditions and leeches off the systems our hard working forefathers built for us with have no one to stop them. We're irrelevant on the world stage unless you listen to other failed socialist leaders that are in the same position. No gold in the vault, no army to defend us, no path to homeownership, forgotten history, former heros that are now being disgraced and vilified, and a distopic future for our children. So ya, I cheered for the Panthers. I'm sick and tired of cheering for losers and you should be too.
