Somehow it was learning how many people are fulltime employed to maintain the Golden Gate Bridge that flipped something inside of me in my understanding of the entropic force civilization has to constantly fight against. Before that moment I thought — I had not applied real conscious thought — you simply build a building or anything really and then you just … have it. After that I understood everything is constantly at the brink of being lost.

.@NRC_Egeland: "Nothing has fundamentally changed in the hunger games they are now organising. Some of the strongest get aid, some of the criminal gangs that Israel tolerates are getting food.. the @NRC_Norway is denied access, so are most NGO's.."

@enoughformethx @SilvermanJacob I think this text is being misunderstood. Read the piece. It works for him because it mirrors his own sophisticated language back to him. And he is expert enough to spot the mistakes.

@sheemawn It seems to be the colors mean different numbers on the different maps. Check the legend. It's not necessarily depopulation, it's differential growth

Scientists just found a way to break through climate apathy grist.org/science/break-…
The findings suggest that if scientists want to increase public urgency around climate change, they should highlight clear, concrete shifts instead of slow-moving trends. That could include the loss of white Christmases or outdoor summer activities canceled because of wildfire smoke.

Israel blocks all aid for starved women and children in Gaza funded by the US, Germany, the UK, the EU and Scandinavians.
NRC alone has 34 trucks waiting endlessly to enter Gaza.
The situation is utterly desperate.
We have fully exhausted our stock inside Gaza of critical items, such as tents for the homeless.
We may soon be unable to even continue water trucking for the displaced. We call for the immediate access of aid and restoration of basic services.
It is a grave violation of international law to starve innocent children for political purposes.

One of the features I've mosted wanted in AI Studio for a long time! Just paste a YouTube link into the command line and ask Gemini 2.0 questions about it - it's multimodal understanding is kind of mindblowing. Try it here: aistudio.google.com
Logan Kilpatrick@OfficialLoganK
Introducing YouTube video 🎥 link support in Google AI Studio and the Gemini API. You can now directly pass in a YouTube video and the model can usage its native video understanding capabilities to use that, with just a link! 🚢

Have you ever felt kama muta? It is a complex, positive #emotion typically described as being ‘touched’ or ‘moved’? Koh et al. (2025) investigated how #kamamuta relates to situations of collective threat. [spb.psychopen.eu/index.php/spb/…]

It's a universal feeling so now you can put a name to it.
