I am voting for McDuffie because I think blue cities need to be governed well, JLG's policies will more likely than McDuffie's raise crime, and Trump would weaponize that against Dems everywhere. My fellow DCers, don't sleepwalk into this

Think this reflects some of the emerging lanes in the center, a healthy development for a growing ecosystem Center of the Party - major players: moderates pushing back against leftists within party - big stage: 2028 primary jockeying - box out tactics: what not to do (questionnaires, etc) Center of the Country: - minor players: conservative Democrats growing distance from party - smaller stage: red districts - insurgent tactics: YOLO fun mishegas that attracts Makes sense for Center of the Party to say “No AOC” Center of the Country to say “Newsom? GTFO”

@mcbyrne @StefFeldman ‘The base is the big tent’ doesn’t make sense. Can you describe it differently? I think you mean ‘activists’ (overwhelmingly college educated, coastal, and white) when you use the word ‘base’.

@schultzohio @StefFeldman I know mods resent that progressives vote Democratic and would wish none of us voted. That said the base is the big tent.

Q for this & similar projects: how will you measure what content persuades/mobilizes? I've yet to see digi folks measure success beyond views/likes. I've even seen them hype a post as "effective" bc it had a huge # of impressions, when that post was ratio'd with neg content.

@StefFeldman It’s a balance between base engagement and persuasion. Lots of very serious dems poo poo base engagement and just want to appease swings. But also young people like sincerity most. See: Bernard Sanders

This will be common sense to most democrats outside of the elite circles but still a great reminder of the path available to win elections and govern effectively, should we choose.

@steveschale @RepJeffries @SenSchumer The DNC hasn't done that either, which is why donors are spending their money elsewhere. Nor are they listening to their base, which is telling them to pick leaders who will fight. Two sides of the same coin.

As I said in this piece, donors who are not supporting the DNC because they are still frustrated about 2024 or because they think Ken Martin should have some tonic to make everyone feel better are really short-sighted. The work they do now is more important than ever.
