I am thrilled to finally announce that I have accepted a postdoc position at the Faculty of Engineering and SD at @higaktuellt in Sweden!☺️ I'll be working on projects related to sustainability at the organizational level (and of course, with bibliometrics/altmetrics).

Why has Luhmann’s work been so thinly received in anglophone social sciences & humanities? Just reading Bruce Clarke’s amazing book on Gaia Systems which shows Luhmann’s strong influence on Margulis. And on French neocybernetics through Henri Atlan and then Michel Serres.

This is really excellent. Clear analysis and even clearer action points. A world conference with coordinated regional hubs sounds doable also for @STSeasst @4sWeb

Just published in @nature. Our comment how to decarbonize conference travel🛬&include under-represented groups🌍. Go virtual+Regional hubs = No intercontinental flights & 80% CO₂ savings & occasional face2face. As COVID taught us, virtual is possible. 1/6 nature.com/articles/d4158…

'human impacts on our ecological life support system (...) Current mainstream economics was developed in an era before we had reached that level of global impact. We can’t live in that past and ecological economics gives us the perspective and tools to build the future.'
Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity@AnthropoceneBio

📚"Sustainable Wellbeing Futures: a Research and Action Agenda for Ecological Economics" lays out an alternative approach to understanding & managing our planet that places the sustainable wellbeing of humans & the rest of nature as the overarching goal: bit.ly/2BW1BE6

@BrigitteSoelch @rensbod @ccmmody And part of/intertwined with sustainability science. But I am not a fan of this split between science on the one hand and humanities on the other. It makes the divide bigger than it needs to be. 3/3

@BrigitteSoelch @rensbod I think there is great work being done (I'm for instance very curious about @ccmmody's project on fossil fuel). I would be especially curious about the ways in which humanities scholarship becomes part of interwined with climate science (for instance in climate models). 2/3
