Now that app-based authentication is far more common, let's talk about a major sin Google is doing: They ONLY recommend using Google authenticator. Google authenticator is one of the worst apps to use: you lose your phone, and you've lost your auth codes. Use eg Authy instead.

Surviving Windows involves a daily number of explorer.exe restarts. I've got a "Restart Explorer.bat" Batch script on all Windows 10 desktops containing: taskkill /f /im explorer.exe start explorer.exe

@BrianIKamanzi There are also "debloat Windows 11" scripts/apps online that disable some unneeded Windows services/telemetry. I would use these with caution or at least find one that has been vetted by a reputable person/org.

@BrianIKamanzi Otherwise upgrading your RAM (if possible) and upgrading to a SSD if you have a HDD are recommended. Can also take a look at the top processes in Task Manager for the culprit processes. Uninstall an software you don't use etc.

My personal laptop is painfully slow, it's almost unusable with all these background processes & Windows 11. Do I know anyone on here who has personal experience migrating to Linux? Did you experience a significant boost in performance?

The SA Home Affairs login page takes ~9.7s to load. Actually logging in takes ~3.5min🤯. I don't know if I'm ever going to receive the OTP to complete my login. There must be someone manually fetching data from the database over there.

The regular expression was for email validation and contained some non ascii characters. I gave up debugging it in Chrome and launched @firefox . It immediately told me: "The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol."

I just spent a silly amount of time on this error message: "Invalid regular expression: ...Dî„€0... : Range out of order in character class". The bug showed up in development but not in production. 🧵

@CassidyJames So without changing displays, you would run a 4k 27" at 1x scaling @ 1440p instead to avoid fractional scaling?

@CassidyJames Great, thanks. It appears that on Windows (at least) at fractional scaling, anything that is rasterized already will appear blurry (viewing images) but a fair number of apps appear crisp - I imagine as they are scaling in their rasterization phase based on the desktop scaling.

@babusinyoni 😁 Will have to check it out. I've been using the features of LibreOffice to do something along these lines for about 8 years now: github.com/robsco-git/spr… I'm always a bit sceptical of no-code but if it empowers users then awesome.
