I don’t get why this is controversial. He doesn’t play the ball. Instead of tackling he chooses to bump and made contact to the head. He’s lucky he didn’t crack his cheekbone or cause a concussion.

@scoota_fire @jimmymclovin23 @hasumpstuffedup @nardz09 Using the ground as reference Mills marks the ball just in front of the light line running across the ground, Darcy stands pretty much just In front of that same line, if hes over the mark its by literal centimetres Hes also already in the protected area so hes allow to stand it

I'm not a fan of the stand rule either (it asks umpires to put their eyes in two places at once) But it's worth pointing out that only the first of the four examples shown was actually paid 50 for a stand rule violation. Others were for protected zone or running over the mark

@MarkDuffett @hasumpstuffedup We had that in the Vic Ammo’s, but you can use it to slow play down and have 25m paid against you instead of letting a team move the ball quickly to free players down the field. They got rid of it.

@hasumpstuffedup The underlying problem is that 50 m is too big a penalty. Something the SANFL does better (along with percentage calculation) is having 25 m penalties. I don’t think mark violations are any more common there, indicating that 25 m is sufficient.

@Nightshade771 @hasumpstuffedup @nardz09 Wrong call by umpire. He's incorrectly penalised him for entering the protected zone or not trying to leave it, when he was actually in the zone when the mark was taken, and immediately moved backwards from the player to the mark.

@ann2belle lol, the kick went 10ms and he tries to stop when the whistles blown. Look where Mills marks it and where Darcy stands. Just take your good win.
