On 23 April 1982, Sir Clive Sinclair unveiled a rubber-keyed, rainbow-striped 8-bit computer at the Churchill Hotel in London. It cost £125. It sold over five million units. It contributed significantly to the launch of the British IT industry. Around twenty thousand+ games were made for it including of course Jet Set Willy, Atic Atac and my personal fave - The Way of the Exploding Fist 🤜 💥 In the middle of an AI arms race, it’s worth remembering how simple the computing experience used to be. I've seen a few AI 'platform' RFPs from enterprises lately. Head scratcher. 3-4 month process. By then it's out of date — two or three model releases, products that didn't exist when they started. Then a 6-month rollout. Tells me who the winners and losers will be straight away.

The application of VAR is killing football. Key decisions based on millimetres put a clubs future at risk and impact staff who work in them. Football is a sport for spectators. Decisions by committee never in the spirit of the game. Optimise for excitement, not rules. #nffc
