Spirit Airlines died tonight at the hands of the socialist crusader, Elizabeth Warren She must be so proud to add another casket to her achievements. Tonight at 3am, Spirit turns off the lights. 14,000 jobs gone. 30+ smaller airports lose service. JetBlue offered $3.8 BILLION in cash to buy Spirit in 2022. Shareholders, flight attendants union, literally everyone voted yes. The combined company would have held 9% of the US market against a Big 4 that already owned 80%. For anyone who understands numbers: 9% isn’t a monopoly against 80%. Warren said no. She wrote letters. She pressured Buttigieg. Biden’s DOJ sued. A federal judge killed the deal in January 2024. Her argument: the merger would cost consumers $1 billion a year. Now look at her collateral damage she dusts under the rug. 510 pilots gone in the months after. 1,800 flight attendants furloughed in December. 14,000 jobs in 2023. 7,500 last week. Zero tonight. And that’s just the people in Spirit uniforms. Catering goes. Fuel guys go. Baggage crews, gate agents, airport coffee shops, hotels and rental cars in 70 cities Spirit flew to. Every airline job carries 3 more on its back. 40,000 people out of work because of one woman’s moronic crusade against the market. And the math ain’t mathing. Spirit abandoned 90 routes during the death spiral. Fares on those routes are up 14% on average. Oakland to Newark: $135 to $288. Fort Myers to San Juan: $92 to $219. Kansas City to Newark up 66%. That’s reality. Not some BS number from a “study.” So @SenWarren tell me how this saves the consumer money? Cheap carriers in a market drop fares 21% across the board. Southwest did this in the 90s and saved Americans $68 BILLION over 20 years. Warren killed it. That’s what moronic politicians led by socialism do. Then with her own blind arrogance, she tweeted Spirit’s collapse is “a Biden win for flyers.” A win. 14,000 people are reading termination letters tonight. And she’s taking credit. This is socialism in 2026. A senator who’s never made payroll thinks she knows how to run a market better than the people who own and work in the company. She saved you a billion on imaginary paper. She cost you ten times that in real life. She didn’t protect consumers from anything. 14,000+ will go from working to welfare. She will make sure to blame billionaires, hardworking tax payers, AI, capitalism and whatever monster they will make up tomorrow hiding under your bed. Higher taxes. Fewer jobs. More expensive everything. She called it a win. I hope you enjoy winning.

@Glockamole98 @Erythros473 @TerraDraca Well in reality I’d tell the guy forcing me to push a button to fuck off… so yeah. It’s a hypothetical question. It’s like would you do X for a million bucks. No one is paying you for that shit.

Today's thoughts on the red and blue button question. People who pick blue claim reds are killing people but is that actually true? If 60% of people have already decided to pick red, does me picking blue actually change anything? No, aside from my own death, it changes nothing because nobody knows my vote and I have no ability to influence other people and change their mind. I can only control my choice and nothing else. In fact, there is only ONE scenario where my decision could be argued to matter beyond my own survival: If the vote was completely deadlocked and I was the deciding vote. The odds of that happening: Basically never. So no, I am not basing my decisions on a scenario that will never happen anyway.

@FynjyKez @agrantalex @KuracKoKeksic @alprog_ Reds do nothing of the sort. We know people would die. But we can’t do anything about it. Whoever decided to run this would be responsible. Oh wait, it’s a hypothetical question designed to invoke thought. Not some moral hazard

You think it’s about emotion. It’s not. I hope no one pushed blue. I hope blue gets more votes. But I’m not, because my vote doesn’t matter. In reality, I’d tell whoever is forcing me to “vote” to fuck off. Hopefully everyone would. But this is a question designed to invoke thought… instead you make it about morals and other things hypothetical questions don’t do.

@scott_landmann @uzalu_ I think the point of his hypo was to see if you care about people who were involuntarily put into the blue group. What if that was you? Would you hope that people pushed blue?

what if 10% of the population were randomly assigned to blue, as if they had pressed the blue button? Would you try to save them by also pressing blue? what if those 10% didn't even know they had been assigned to blue? It could be you.

@Erythros473 @scott_landmann @TerraDraca THAT is statistically impossible. You are never getting 100% of a popular vote. It is assumed that some people will push blue. As it is assumed that some people will push red.

@Glockamole98 @TerraDraca If blue gets more votes everyone wins. If red gets more votes blue loses. Using alternate words makes it about “your tribe”. That has nothing to do with logic. A tie is a statistical impossibility.

Just because you believe something is “the point” of the question doesn’t mean I do. I reason that my vote couldn’t possibly impact anyone BUT ME. I have explained why I come to that conclusion. Therefore I decide based on that and that alone. YOU are allowed to come to a different conclusion. I don’t think it’s supported by fact, but I will not question your motivation,

@orion_van13948 @uzalu_ I’m not taking advice from someone who can’t use the correct words. The chance of MY VOTE breaking a tie is nil. Therefore the only one who could feel the consequence of my vote is me. Prove me wrong,

@shane1step The right thing would be to not press either button. But it’s a thought experiment NOT REALITY. Just like I’d never do anything morally wrong for a criminal just to save a life. Morals matter. This isn’t a question about morals.

The difference is that this is something that couldn’t happen in real life. Both sides try to make it that way. The people who would “make” you vote cause the problem. Of course they don’t exist so you try to make the reds the enemy. Reds do the same when they say “you got under the smasher” It’s a question of whether you can analyze risk. There’s effectively zero chance YOUR VOTE matters. It won’t break the tie. Therefore the only question is whether you accept risk.

Also, if 40% of the population died, a massive majority of red voters would be devastated. Most people would lose people they loved and cared about. Societies would collapse. Mass suicides over the guilt. The only people that would be left would be the most soulless and psychopathic. It would be a Mad Max hellscape.

If you're smart enough to understand the hypothetical requires analytical reasoning, but not smart enough to evaluate the hypothetical's actual complexity, you're going to be wrong and very confident. And anyone who understands enough to get it right will look stupid to you.
Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil

Red and blue button pushers: who's smarter? In a mostly-subscriber sample who took a brief verbal IQ test, the answer is... Blue pushers! If the whole population has an IQ of 100 with an SD of 15, their mean IQ would be 101.9, versus 97.0 for reds.

@theramblingfool @PunishedJeanLuc @subcountability So it’s not about logic it’s about morality? What do you think is the chance of my vote breaking a tie is? Knowing that my vote isn’t going to break the tie, why am I complicit in anyone’s death? I couldn’t influence anyone else’s vote.
