I'm not overly worried about the Flames' draft stock. Still plenty of opportunity for them to land a Bjorck or Carels if they don't win the lottery.
Big stuff right now is that the kids are really improving, and the vets are all doing good stuff to maintain or boost their value.

@CofRedCentral @simoncashmore I still think the stalling is to either to get teams to give a reasonable deal that is worth 3 years of salary retention, or stalling to see if they need to retain on Coleman. It could also be stalling until July 1 when Markstrom's and Andersson's salaries come off the books.

RE: Nazem Kadri front, ownership is unwilling to retain on his deal, which significantly limits the market for him. Believed that the Flames had a deal in place with the Avalanche, but with retention taken off the table, the Avs pivoted to Nic Roy. Tough spot for Craig Conroy.

@CofRedCentral They are changing. Why retain for 3 years if they don't have to? The Flames are willing to hold out until they get a deal that they would be willing to retain salary on, or a team is willing to take on the final 3 years of his contract.

If he does play for the Flames, wait until he is a free agent to sign him. By then he will have a career of his own
