@kent_hodder@KSzn2021 i didn’t mean move on like a trade, I meant move on in terms of not putting him in a situation to get a fair evaluation and moving on to evaluate other players. I think the jury is still out on MHJ but if the Cards think it’s more important to give Beck playing time so be it
@scottkilgrim@KSzn2021 Who is saying we move on? You don't just move on from a high end 2, low end 1.
Unfortunately his college flaws are amplified in the NFL against better competition. Not fighting back for the ball, not fighting through contact.
Who his QB is won't change those traits.
Cardinals QB situation is fascinating. They likely won’t start Beck week 1 but will move to him at some point in the season, the question is when. Do you want Jacoby to win a few games and push the date farther into the season and possibly move you out of top position in 2027?
@JohnnyVenerable@PHNX_Cardinals By taking Love, we are burning any surplus value we could be getting. If anything he needs to come in and immediately be the 7th best RB or else we are losing value. It’s much better team building to take a Reese, pay him as the ~30th edge and hope he becomes a top 15 edge.
@JohnnyVenerable@PHNX_Cardinals The problem isn’t the literal cap room, it’s the opportunity cost of taking Love. Every super bowl champ gets a ton of surplus contract value from rookies (JSN, Witherspoon, Dejean, Quinyon, Carter, etc.)
The conversation around Jeremiyah Love's contract is largely dumb.
The Arizona Cardinals are set to have $155 million dollars in available cap space come 2027.

@kent_hodder@KSzn2021 I think there is a lot of truth to both your points. For Marv specifically tho it’s so tough for me to just say he’s a 2 and move on after we spent such a high pick on him and his college tape is so good. I would want to give him another season to show us what he’s got.
@scottkilgrim@KSzn2021 I also think we know what we have in Marv.
He's a very good player when he is switched on. He's got some really bad habits of drifting away from the and jumping into catches that are holding him back from taking the next step.
High end #2 guy.
@kent_hodder@KSzn2021 100%! Beck doesn’t have elite tools and he’s an older prospect. Especially in the NFC west, we are going to need more to win. I’m not banking on him to be a franchise QB, as a cards fan I really hope he proves me wrong but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
@scottkilgrim@KSzn2021 Scenario:
Beck plays 4 games in 2026 and Arizona goes 3-1 in those games.
Arizona still finishes with a top 8 pick.
Do you take QB?
@kent_hodder@KSzn2021 Wilson had a 1000 yard season with Brissett. He should play well enough to get a fair evaluation of the other pieces on offense and the new scheme but not win games which is what we need. You have to start Beck for a few games but solving MHJ is way more important imo.
@scottkilgrim@KSzn2021 There isn't a QB on the roster that is going to tell you who MHJ is.
If you put Beck out there and we're 0-8 or 0-9 you can always make the switch knowing you don't have your QB.
@kent_hodder@KSzn2021 The problem is that we still don’t know who MHJ is and you need a competent QB to throw him the ball in year three so there are no excuses. If you put Beck out and he sucks, it’s too easy to say it’s Beck’s fault. We probably need 6-10 solid MHJ games before you can play Beck.
@KSzn2021 I feel like it's less about winning games and more about understanding what you have.
We know what Jacoby and Gardner are.
We don't know if Beck has long term starter upside or if he is a spot start/career backup/another Gardner/Jacoby
We NEED to start Beck at least 12 games.
@johnnybot13@JohnnyVenerable@PHNX_Cardinals That’s what i’m saying. It’s a lot easier to say this when Jacoby is throwing him the ball especially when Wilson had legit production. If a rookie QB is throwing the ball to him it’s easy to excuse bad production again.
@scottkilgrim@JohnnyVenerable@PHNX_Cardinals Sorry, no more time catering to MHJ. Look what Michael Wilson did last year, despite the team forgetting he existed until week 11. Time for #18 to prove he’s a star. Catch the damn ball. Or get out of the way for #85 and #14
"You already have backups already, now you have a THIRD backup" 😬
@Nate_Tice, @FourVerts and @MattHarmon_BYB question the fit of Carson Beck to the Cardinals 🤨
(via The NFL Draft Live Show)
@WNYHobbyClub@PHNX_Cardinals@JohnnyVenerable lol it’s not about love or jeanty being bad, I think they are both really good! It’s that an elite RB does less for a team than other positions and does not affect winning nearly as much. The raiders had the 1 pick even with Jeanty having a good rookie season
@SweatyBifocals@PHNX_Cardinals@JohnnyVenerable Buddy Bijan was 1st team all pro this year and the falcons still posted a losing record and missed the playoffs. As a cards fan I hope i’m wrong but an elite RB doesn’t move the needle much in the modern NFL
This is a great thing for the Cardinals. Let Mike LaFleur get his feet wet for a year, bring in a new GM next season and find your QB in the 2027 draft.
