Kim Kardashian and Anthropic are running versions of the same marketing playbook. Not “make everyone love us.” More like: make the haters distribute the message for free. Kim turns “why is she even there?” into status. Anthropic turns “they’re fearmongering about AI” into institutional trust. The criticism doesn’t break the brand. It completes the loop.

Did I miss something? Why does everyone hate Anthropic all of a sudden? Last time I checked, they were standing up against the US government to protect Americans from surveillance and AI-powered weapons.

Anthropic’s marketing is fascinating. It’s not hype marketing. It’s “please argue about how smug and serious we are” marketing. Contrarian prestige branding. Moralized anti-hype. A little bit academic, a little bit Kardashian. You may hate the vibe, but you’re still talking about it.
