@wesstreeting So much care that was specialist only 5 years ago is now done by GPs despite the MASSIVE expansion in consultant numbers and no similar rise in GP numbers. If we're forcing GPs out and no longer using specialists... What is the future for patients with any non acute condition?

@Parody_RCGP This is effectively "fraud" cost of a clinic appointment is more than the total funding per patient per year in General Practice.....not seen by a doctor...then nonsense output of.."GP to consider....." ....it's fraud in plain sight!

We get around 100 of these a month from various specialist teams who think we are their clinical dog. Can't wait till we go private. Can't wait.

Whatever your thoughts on the decision- it is clear tonight that no MSP made their decision lightly. All decisions were well considered and that is all we can hope for from elected officials. We need to prioritise better palliative care funding treatments and research.

This morning. One GP practice. One hour. 240 clinical tasks before most people had started work. Four every minute. No political thanks. No headlines. Just a small teamy doing what they do every single day. When these practices close, nothing replaces them. Nothing.

General Practice is being sqewered on the alter of "access". The value we can add is best evidenced in longitudinal care, continuity of care and managing uncertainty....we shouldn't be expected to provide bargain basement "urgent" care too without transfer of resource from ED etc. Aspiring to Amazon levels of "access" will inevitably detract from continuity.

Hi @wesstreeting Can you explain to my why a hospital trust not far from me is taking 6 months to even look at (triage) it's *urgent* vascular referrals. (Not see, triage). (10months for routine). Whilst General Practice has to triage everything same day?

The system is set up for this. If we refused a sick note, there is a never ending set of complaint pathways that would eat up many 10s of hours rebutting what may be a perfectly sound refusal.hence it never happens

If you have parents who are 75 years and above, please read this carefully. At that age, something quietly begins to change in them. Their bodies slow down, their energy fades, and the world they once understood starts moving faster than they can keep up with. The people they grew up with are gradually disappearing, their friends are fewer, their strength is not what it used to be, and the house that was once full of responsibility slowly becomes quiet. Many of them begin to feel invisible. They may repeat the same stories, ask the same questions, complain about little things, or become more sensitive than they used to be. What many people interpret as stubbornness is often loneliness. What looks like irritation is sometimes fear. They are slowly realizing that life is entering its final chapters. At that stage, they no longer need us for money as much as they need us for presence. A short phone call means more than we think. Personally i think a complete strike is the only way to save GP. Patients deserve better than to allow this path to privatisation to continue. “You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth” But what would i know , i’m just a GP 🤷‍♂️
