@kylesockwell Uh what do you expect for a sport that still has roots as a country club sport LOL. Swimming only is mainstream every 4 years. Imagine getting DQ'd for celebrating an unbelievable achievement. Oh wait it just happened in swimming a little while ago.

I really hope this post serves as a small reality check for the swimming community. We’ve got a large group of people in our sport (much larger than I bet we’re willing to admit) that DO see something like this as a DQable offense, yet people outside of swimming cannot fathom why that would ever make sense. We’ve got some growing up to do if we want this sport to be palatable for a mainstream audience at the collegiate and professional levels. Regan is an adult, a professional athlete, and just broke a WR in front of 20,000+ people. Let athletes show emotion and if someone uses a word you don’t like to show they’re proud of themselves, keep it to yourself.

@Braden_Keith Prelims, a weekday and day 3 of 9? I would assume it's parents, friends and hardcore swim fans. Finals should fill in more but I don't think the crowds will be as big as the weekend crowds. Prime time TV for swimming and the overall TV coverage is amazing compared to the past.

Smallest crowd we’ve had this week so far. I assume attendance won’t be announced, but would be surprised if there are more than 10k butts in seats. Given the Monday morning timing and the events for the day, not a big surprise. Hopefully it fills back up tonight.
