@scqft @2_black_hearts No, homophobia was frowned upon in the Soviet Union and Christianity was banned then. Most Christians were killed off during soviet times. These are all soviet remnants. The Orthodox Church plays an important external role to manipulate outsiders more than internally.

@doutorlabubu Honestly I was really surprised myself, both my country and Russia have the orthodox church and in our case the church plays a really big role for the existence of homophobia (also I'm pretty sure that more than 3% of people attend church here), I didn't expect that at all.

I do think it has to be said that there is a degree of fault here placed on the tweets and jokes that went unchecked in the very beginning wrt francois, while I do think there are valid criticisms of him with the way he speaks in interviews and how he has reacted to certain things, I don’t think it can be ignored that with how everyone went from mild annoyance to thinking he is this devil incarnate grand wizard groomer is having wide spread negative repercussions! and let’s not kid ourselves and pretend that a good majority of that jump and response wasn’t because of ship related nonsense because people saw him that way that led to every interaction connor had with him as not just an association and admission of guilt so that the perceived crimes then also became connor’s crimes which is how we get to where we are now that people are giving connor that SAME exact treatment where now he’s getting accused of just sinister and vile things because they would go to events together people let their hatred for that man cloud their every rational thought and judgment where it even gets to the point of slick comments are being made about hudson as well every time he associated with francois (just look at some of the response from the video from yesterday) you may not like it but he is a friend of theirs as well as their costar they will be seen with him they do appear to enjoy his friendship and his company and specifically when it comes to hudson he himself through his own words has said their is love between them and that’s just something that people are gonna have to get over and accept no one is telling you you have to like francois or even acknowledge him (lord knows I ignore him for the most part myself) and I’m not claiming complete innocence here because I did laugh at some of the jokes as well but this is why we need to be responsible for checking our own behavior to STOP shit from getting even worse than it already is (and it’s already pretty fucking insane!)
