Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

I know the influencer accounts are busy posting fire emojis, but this China trip looks like a dud. We got a non-binding Boeing order, less than half its original size, and some vagaries about soy beans. China got profuse praise, concessions on trade, support for buying our farmland and 500,000 student visas, AI chips, and the softening of demands around Iran. Sorry, I can't lie to you and tell you this was a good result. Scream at me if you must.

Helen of Troy will probably be in ‘The Odyssey’ for like two minutes. It’s not going to make or break the movie. But come on. Everyone knows what the reaction would be if Nolan was doing an African mythology and cast Sydney Sweeney as a sub-Saharan princess. Let’s not be dumb.

There’s a big piece of the Iran business that we don’t know about. The hesitation to finish what we started is very odd. I agree with @HaroldWren22 that Iran may already have, at the very least, a crude low-yield nuclear device. It’s either that or our weapons stockpiles really are critically low. Either way it’s not good…

The fires in the Tuapse refinery are apparently getting out of control. Whatever was left of this Russian oil facility will be burnt to the ground.

@RotoPat All this proves is when the average person goes to a movie they want to be entertained not reminded how shitty real life is outside the theater. Nothing wrong with wanting to escape that. If u want reality watch a documentary.

Anyone who gets their news about the Iran War from sources outisde of the Fox/neocon sewer of Sean Hannity and Ben Shapiro already knows that Iran absolutely pummeled US bases in multiple countries. This new reporting shows billions of dollars worth of damage, and even cites a study from the neocon AEI for support. If you talk to any trustworthy US officials, they'll give you the real story about the war: not just that Iran inflicted far more damage than known and that the US Govt hid it (including the number and severity of US casualties), but also that -- as happened in the last war with Iran in 2025 -- both the US and Israel (and now the Persian Gulf dictatorships) are very low on munitions and especially anti-missile defense systems:
Amerikanets 📉@ripplebrain

NBC confirms for the first time what many of us already suspected or knew: the Iranian Air Force bombed US bases in the opening phase of the war.

@RBPundit Name one time there has been a national push from a national leader for a mid decade redistricting? Trump started it in Texas because he thought dems would just take it. Now you’re crying because it backfired.

No, Republicans didn't start the redistricting. Adam Kinzinger (LOL) was redistricted out of a job in Illinois in 2022-3. New York redistricted in 2022. This all happened before Texas did anything. And that ignores the Dems historical gerrymandering.
John@johnnyj848

@patrickhenry2nd @RBPundit This country is so corrupt it’s crazy. I mean, Republicans did kind of start this redistricting, but they took it to the extreme.

@guypbenson Apples to oranges. Only one side decided to do a mid decade rebalance. All that matters is this election cycle otherwise u can go back forever showing one side “started it”.

Indeed, the “Texas started it” premise is incorrect (plus CA already answered). NY Dems went before TX (see below), to say nothing of the wild existing Dem gerrymanders in places like IL & MD. And to say nothing of admitted 2020 Census miscounts robbing red states of 6-10 seats.
Claudia Tenney@claudiatenney

.@AriFleischer please stop saying Texas started this redistricting mess. New York started it. After an extreme gerrymander by NY Dems in 2022, completely ignoring the Independent Commission they created in 2014, the Court of Appeals in NY restored fairness. Then, the Dems sued again in 2024 to overturn the Court of Appeals decision. They bullied 2 Court of Appeals judges off the bench and forced new Dem. favorable maps and the Reps lost 4 seats. In 2026 they AGAiN sued to gerrymander and eliminate the Rep seat in Staten Island and were looking for even more power. The US Supreme Court stopped the nonsense for now. The Dems plan to gerrymander again in 2028. They will stop at nothing and do not care about the people or fairness. This is a bloodsport. The Republicans need to wake up and recognize this fact. Sign the Save America Act into law for starters. And do whatever it takes within the law to ensure that the citizens of this country win.

@FrankLuntz It’s as if Texas never happened. The dems were just supposed to sit back and watch? You’re crying now only because it back fired on you. Were u crying about democracy when Texas did the same thing?

@JonahDispatch Hilary Clinton spent 4 years saying 2016 was an illegitimate election. And that Russia interfered (knowing that she and Obama set up that lie.) So this purity test is bullshit unless all Dems have to answer it about 2016 too.

I get being annoyed when Elizabeth Warren (who I find insufferable) or other Democrats play gotcha by asking “Do you believe Donald Trump lost in 2020?” You know what would have spared Republicans the embarrassment and annoyance of these questions? If Trump hasn’t lied about winning and hadn’t tried to steal the election.

The translation barely captures how smug, self-satisfied, and contemptuous this guy is. He frames the mere act of speaking with President Trump as some great sacrifice on his part, as if it’s a burden he reluctantly agrees to carry because someone has to. Worse still, his reasoning reduces everything to pure utility. It’s not about shared history, common culture, or any sense of Western civilization. His entire premise is that engagement is necessary only because Europe cannot defend itself, and once that changes, the relationship becomes expendable. The level of condescension is completely off the charts.
Clash Report@clashreport

German Chancellor Merz on Trump: The truth is—I try to maintain a reasonable personal relationship with the American president. Right now, we cannot defend ourselves on our own. At the moment, only a few of us can still speak with him in a trusting way. I have access to him—things improve when the doors are closed. But it’s still not good. I didn’t choose him—but he is the president of the United States.
