@burhanrashid52 @championswimmer Thanks for the shout-out. I prefer to think of Script Kit as an open-source custom script launcher+sdk. The main goals are to help you write/run your own scripts. The project started years ago because I was frustrated with how difficult scripting in Alfred is.

Any Raycast users on my TL here? What are your primary uses of it? I keep seeing it pop up here and there but have never gotten what is the "killer" feature from its landing page. For context - I use Clippy (now Maccy) for clipboard - AI usage I can do on respective websites already - I am comfortable killing process, converting images/videos etc from CLI, have been doing that way since ages I mean it really appears cool seeing the demo on the site, but I cannot understand what is *the* feature for which I will convince myself to even try using it.

It's crazy how easy we can build utilities like this with AI, I didn't even know AppleScript could open modal and picker! I work better with background music but I often forget about it, this small: - check if there's any audio playing - if not, ask if I want to start Lofi music from a list - allow me to snooze the dialog tech: @cursor_ai @deno_land AppleScript and launchd (to run on a schedule) workflow: 99% of code from cursor I only asked to simplify things that were pure overhead @Mappletons Home-Cooked Software is closer than I expected

@Mappletons @scriptkitapp It’s surprising the amount of UI things you can do with AppleScript, i was about to start with a tauri/electon app but i told myself “for start i’m fine with a notification that opens a link on click” cursor suggested the dialog 😅

@Mappletons @kandros5591 We even have an applescript() function which can execute your AppleScript if you just want to organize your existing scripts into a searchable launcher

@kandros5591 Huh, I hadn't thought of using Cursor to write AppleScript – but good idea! There's also ScriptKit @scriptkitapp (scriptkit.com) which lets you write JavaScript to automate desktop workflows

@joelgrimberg @raycastapp And, with v3, it's become waaay easier to checkout the app repo and hack at it yourself 😉

I am a big fan of @raycastapp . The product is just epic. However, because of the VC behind it, it feels like I have to have a plan B (@scriptkitapp). Because sometimes, after some VC rounds, VC tends to change the storyline (ie. the story of Cypress.io )

I need some help. I’m running @scriptkitapp on an m3 macbook pro, it’s mainly just running react native projects, and it’s so incredibly slow and crashes upon launch/creating files. Can anyone give some primers in how I can fix this?

Multi-prompt preview 👀

Made significant progress towards supporting multiple active prompts today. This will enable multiple editors/terminals/etc to for long-running/parallel tasks. Still lots of work around rewriting caching/state/etc, but it's all looking very promising 🙌

I’ve been quietly working on Script Kit the past couple of years, but 2024 is the year I can finally start publicly showing off what it can do (*hint* - you’ll see lots of AI 😇). Time to make demos, lessons, and do some actual marketing. Here’s where I’m at so far by only focusing on responding to user questions and requests: 35k+ downloads 5k+ commits across the projects 3.7k GitHub stars 1k+ GitHub discussions 996 x followers - @scriptkitapp 898 mailing list 250 discord members 146 shared scripts 48 sponsors All of those numbers will be A LOT bigger by the end of the year 💪

linux needs a raycast equivalent i know the user base isn’t as huge but it’s enough for one talented dev to make a living
