i once had a close friend in the early 2000s who never asks for advice... no should i? questions, no group chats weighing in, no public planning. one day he just showed up with a new car. another time he mentioned he’d quit his job and had been running his own thing quietly... nobody knew he’d been saving, studying, failing and retrying. bro never narrated the struggle, he never advertised the intention. i used to think he was reckless for not looping people in but years later i realized he was just protecting his momentum. some plans die the moment too many voices touch them, some people work best in silence, where doubt can’t reach them and validation isn’t needed. not everyone moves loud. some people move alone and arrive fully formed. buena suerte. 👍

🚨 OUTRAGE IN MINNESOTA: MEET JUDGE SARAH WEST, THE ONE WHO JUST THREW OUT A UNANIMOUS JURY VERDICT IN A $7.2 MILLION SOMALI MEDICAID FRAUD CASE! Jury deliberated LESS THAN 2 HOURS and convicted Abdifatah Yusuf on ALL COUNTS for stealing taxpayer dollars, fake billing, luxury cars, designer clothes on YOUR dime. But Judge West (Dem-appointed) drops a 55-page bombshell: Evidence “circumstantial,” state didn’t prove intent beyond reasonable doubt. Acquittal granted. Fraud happened? Yes, she admits she’s “troubled” by it. But Yusuf walks FREE

I am astonished and sad about the sheer number of Americans who believe the correct response to bigotry is more bigotry. Down that path lay inevitable civil war and genocide. How can these people not see this? However, as is often pointed out to me, half of all Americans have sub-100 IQs, so perhaps I should not be astonished. But I am still sad.

I nearly missed my flight this morning after the TSA made me wait 15 minutes for a pat-down because I’m pregnant and didn’t feel like getting radiation exposure from their body scanner. The agents were passive-aggressive, rude, and tried to pressure me and another pregnant woman into just walking through the scanner because it’s “safe.” After finally getting the absurdly invasive pat-down, I barely made my flight. All this for an unconstitutional agency that isn’t even good at its job. Perhaps things would have gone more smoothly if I’d handed over my biometric data to a random private company (CLEAR). Then I could enjoy the special privilege of waiting in a shorter line to be treated like a terrorist in my own country. Is this freedom? Travel, brought to you by George Orwell—and the privilege of convenience based solely on your willingness to surrender biometric data and submit to radiation exposure? The “golden age of transportation” cannot begin until the TSA is gone.

As a bridge expert, a few things and the answer: how long does this bridge have left? 1. The vertical split at deck and beam referred to in video is an expansion joint and is normal, albeit leaking. 2. The leaking expansion joint, combined with deicing salts, is slowly trickling chlorides down the column and the train crash wall. To contribute to the repair of this bridge the expansion joints should be replaced to prevent water leaking from the superstructure to the substructure. 3. The solid train crash wall at the ground level has concrete spalling with exposed transverse rebar. This is readily repairable with mortar or carbon fiber. This spalling here is of concern, but for the crash wall would not normally warrant a closure, but should be repaired promptly. 4. Now for the circular column, which is alarming and has me scratching my head. This video is not clear enough to show that what we are seeing is actually exposed rebar. There are no signs of concrete. The rebar would be spaced up the column to where concrete could be seen between exposed rebar. This leads me to believe this column has already received a carbon fiber reinforced polymer wrapping and that is what we are seeing in exposed. This would explain not seeing any concrete on the column. The CFRP wrap is installed to add/restore structural capacity and to protect what remains of the column. 5. This bridge still has a useable service life ahead of it. This is the only location I can see that has distress and it can be repaired using the CFRP if it has not already been done so, or a pouring a wider column to encompass the distress and providing a new load path. Bridges are inspected every 2 years in the US and this bridge is no different. Distress like this does not happen overnight and has been routinely inspected since it opened. With a video like this, bridge authorities in Kentucky should respond to inspect the bridge and confirm structural adequacy is acceptable, that load posting or bridge closure is not required, and to determine the next steps for repair to maintain the structure. 6. This bridge is just east of the I-75 / KY-620 interchange on Cherry Blossom Way in Georgetown, Kentucky.

For Active Duty/Vets. Husqvarna sent me a stack of chainsaws to give away since a bear stole mine & Internet went wild. I’m adding a 4 day/3 nt stay to one of my Smoky Mtn cabins. Indoor Pool or Insane Views. To enter (100% free, no purchase necessary): 1) Follow @BowTiedBroke 2) Comment on THIS post with literally anything (tag friends = extra luck with the dartboard later 👀) Contest runs exactly 48 hours —-> closes Thanksgiving Day at 6:15 PM EST. 3) You DO NOT have to be a vet, but the prize must go to a vet or active duty service member. Upon announcing this giveaway I had many people comment, "My husband is a vet and doesn't have X, my dad is a vet, my son is active duty, etc". That is fine. The final winner must designate the vet/active duty member and that person MUST be present for the vacation cabin stay. At close, Grok (or a random comment picker app if Grok has a meltdown) will instantly pick 20 random commenters with accounts older than 3 months. Then, I put those 20 names on a dartboard, film one throw, and THAT person wins everything. No bots, no BS, fully transparent. The 20 random are chosen, I post here and the dart decides destiny. 🎯 Sorry international followers (not that I have that many) U.S. followers only for this one. Cabin is in Tennessee, chainsaws are heavy, and bears don’t do passports. Let’s go! Drop a reply and let’s see who the Chainsaw stealing bear chooses.

O-1 visas are nonimmigrant visas for people with extraordinary ability, like Shohei. Proponents of importing cheap labor try to characterize H1B visas in this way, but 80% of H1Bs are entry-level positions (and some even sport worthless degrees from diploma mills that manufacture bogus credentials).

So, another anecdote about our Green Bay experience. We rented an Air BNB and stayed there with our friends right on Lake Winnebago. Cool place. A dock, fire pit, and a great setting right on the lake. It was cool. Our neighbor next door was a duck hunter. He’d put out his decoys, build his duck blind, and blast away. Yesterday morning, at 3AM, we hears these blasts. I had to get up and watch. He’d shoot a duck, wade out about 40 feet into the lake, and gather his ducks. Green effing Bay, Wisconsin, baby!

The reality of our relationship with India going underwater is that it's a good thing. While there is a massive issue with our domestic workers being replaced and scammers targeting people nonstop, there's another issue with global consequences. Their sewage. Everyone makes fun of India having low sanitation standards, but I don't care what they choose to live in. That's not my problem. My problem and inevitably the worlds problem is that India as a nation is an ecological disaster that continues to get worse. The Ganges is one of the world's most polluted waterways. It's filled with sewage, industrial waste, and agricultural waste, as well as heavy metals and plastics. There are massive "dead zones" and spots of hypoxia in the Gulf of Bengal. These continue to grow. Population and production continue to grow, and so does the waste. We are going to see global consequences from this as it expands further into the Indian Ocean. It is a disaster waiting to unfold. Realistically, we as a planet need to stop trading with them unless they're willing to fix what amounts to a giant sewer pipe flooding into the ocean. It's insane. Projections into the next 50-75 years are not great. It needs to end.

Nobody can provide an example of a single way that the United States has benefited from Somali immigration. It's easy to think of the drawbacks. There are no positives. None at all. None of the idiots who flock to this post to call me "racist" or whatever will be able to give an example. Just read the comments and you'll see. Literally no one can explain how it helps this country. So why should we allow it?
