🚨 Elliotte Friedman thinks Jason Spezza could be a potential candidate for the Leafs’ vacant GM role if he feels he is ready to take it.
“If Jason Spezza feels he’s ready, I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t get an interview.”
Spezza, who played with the Leafs for three seasons, joined the Leafs’ front office in May 2022 as a special assistant to GM Kyle Dubas. On May 19, 2023, after the Leafs fired Dubas, Spezza resigned. Shortly afterward, he reunited with Dubas, joining the Penguins as an assistant general manager in June 2023.
Should the Leafs consider bringing Spezza back, even if it’s just for an interview?

@sdckg @mattforney I've lived in Montreal, so please be quiet. I've also lived in NYC, TO, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, St Louis, Dallas, Phoenix, LA, SF, & Van
I was talking about the ridiculous stupid phrase "American class cities"
Meaning low class, violent compared to the modern world.
English

Calling Montreal "the second best city in North America" is a stretch, but it's by far Canada's only American-class city. Good food, fun bars, plenty of sleaze if you're into that stuff. I'll always remember it fondly from my college years because I could legally drink there.
captive dreamer@captive_dreamer
Montreal is probably the second best city in North America. Performative hatred of Quebec or French Canadians is spiritually third world behavior.
English

@mattforney American Class City?? Meaning tons of racists, shitty apartments that people can't afford, & world class murder rates?
As someone who has worked in many American cities, they are all shitholes compared to Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
What a ridiculous, ignorant statement.
English

@captive_dreamer quebec is absolutely awful unless you speak french, they treat English speaking people like shlt. id never go back.
English

Montreal is probably the second best city in North America. Performative hatred of Quebec or French Canadians is spiritually third world behavior.
Right Wing Cope@RightWingCope
@Polymarket Quebec has to be one of the worst places on earth ngl
English

@jrysana @captive_dreamer Toronto is a shit hole hahahah Montreal is top 2-3 in North America and only top city that’s in Canada.
English

@captive_dreamer Montreal is nice but not even top 10
The best cities in North America are NYC and Toronto no question

@sdckg @arpan_on_BC Coronato could have chosen to only sign a short term deal to get him to his next, bigger contract.
He likes being part of the youth movement in Calgary so he committed 6 years to the team.
Trust me, there is no mass exodus of US players leaving Canada.
Simply untrue
English

@adamhsnedden @arpan_on_BC Coronato signed because 1) the contract was terrible and is a massive overpay, and 2) he was an RFA.
English

@sdckg @arpan_on_BC Tkachuk hasn’t asked to be traded.
Tkachuk said he won’t re sign long term in Calgary after Gaudreau left. Miller was traded because Vancouver chose between him and their “star” player.
Matt Coronato (American) signed long term in Calgary 6 months ago.
English

@adamhsnedden @arpan_on_BC Tell that to Quinn Hughes, JT Miller, Matthew Tkachuk, Johnny Gaudreau, etc.
English

@arpan_on_BC Matthews yes
But what leads you to believe Brady Tkachuk, the most important player on the Ottawa Senators team would be leaving?
He is signed through 2028.
He’s not going anywhere.
Players don’t just leave
This is not a soccer.
English

@arpan_on_BC Works both ways. There might be some really good Canadian players sick of all the crap in the USA coming home.

@Ben_Major50 @Busdriver247 @unc_ultra @TheHockeyNews Gudas was on a walking boot 3 days ago haha could have still rag-dolled Domi if he wanted
English

@Busdriver247 @unc_ultra @TheHockeyNews And beat him he did!! Gudas deserves to have his career ended just like he has tried to do to so many others. The guy is a cancer on hockey.
English

@Bryan_Xavier @PeteBlackburn Leafs are too soft. Jumping a guy who was in a walking boot 3 days ago.
English

@PeteBlackburn Leafs do nothing, it's a problem. Leafs do something, it's a problem lol
English

@CarloColaiacovo What? Fighting guys who can barely walk and think it’s a big win? Yeah that’s about Toronto for you 🤡
English

@MapleLeafs Congrats! This is your Stanley Cup 🤣 little guy fought a guy who was in a walking boot 3 days ago. Congrats!
English

@sdckg @owoslty @NHLRumourReport I mean it’s kinda crazy if he’s 6 assists away that “not close”😂 which means if he didn’t get traded and played those games instead he would have hit it haha
English

@sdckg @owoslty @NHLRumourReport 68 games played and 66 assists almost one per game.
With Minnesota he has 45 in 42 games.
More than an assist per game.
Only reason he might not get close is he’s only going to be playing 76 games
English

@5150Inprogress @ScottBilleck Yeah they’re embarrassing as a team. Couldn’t do anything when it happened because that’s who they are.
English

@ScottBilleck Whatever happened to “answer the bell for what you did, take the fight, and it’s over”? But nope, the leafs had to keep poking two weeks later. Weak.
English

@Ruday92 @cnilcd @LeafsPapi_ Domi is sooooo tough. Fighting guys who were in walking boots 3 days ago. Soooo tough. Would have gotten killed hahahah
