@sebsdetector @HadrianHarker @RichardThuss @BraddrofliT But the population of Pennsylvania is NOT twice that of Virginia. I think a lot of people just repeat things they were told about preventing cities from having too much power even though that isn't really what happens.

@HadrianHarker @RichardThuss @BraddrofliT They don't really vary much at all - maybe over a few decades. The number of EC votes each state has stays fairly static as well. What we have is states with higher populations get to decide. To politicians, a vote in PA is about 2x as "important" as a vote in VA, for example.

@BraddrofliT You seem to have missed the point as to why we are called the United States. And also the genius of our founders in setting up the system so that one or two states do not control who wins the honor to govern all of the states.

WRONG CONCLUSION. Our Electoral College system prevents majority rule from having too big a stake in our governance. Under the EC system, minority opinions are still valid and have a weighted voice in any discussion. A majority system can theoretically disenfranchise 49.9999999999% of the people on any given subject. Out of 50 million votes, 24,999,999 voters could have their opinions dismissed as a minority opinion to be discounted. Not a good way to settle disagreements Brad. Many current elections are very close to a 50/50 split. This is real; not a theoretical point.

I don't think he understands that bragging about last month's low gas prices and last month's stock market only draws attention to his talent for destroying good things by doing stupid things.
