@ForcesHidden you've got it wrong about who has been degrading education funding. universities have been bleeding the pig (aka Fannie Mae and Salliei Mae) for years and passing that debt to the students.

what is that take? US Oligarchy has been degrading education funding while moving costs to students over the last 3+ decades with their puppet party currently destroying nearly every economic edge America ever had. Hampshire got swindled by corporatists in the end. The fatal mentality that "elite" multimillion-salaried C-level leadership is worth a damn. A college with no grades, no fraternities, no hard rules. The sports team was an ultimate frisbee group named The Red Scare. A group of freaks, misunderstood geniuses, and creative thinkers across disciplines. Could have survived the Shitocalypse, homie. Killed by a wave of greed building since Reagan.

more universities need to close imo.

@ForcesHidden yup that def sucks. but they should've managed their situation better. plenty of other colleges thriving (too many imo, which was my point). but hardly seems like an "American Oligarchy" issue in that case.

@secondrealm One of the greatest colleges to ever exist will now close, and that fucking sucks. bro. Hampshire College was bastion of free will in learning and American Oligarchy has destroyed it.

i don't know why my daily practice of writing down affirmations 15-mins a day works, but i know that it does. and that's enough for me to keep doing it. i also prefer to use "i will" over "i am" b/c i like the double meaning of it as both noun and verb.

If someone changes their mind and starts to believe what you believe, welcome them. The people around those newly evolved thinkers, who may be considering doing the same will be much more likely to join in if you’re not chastising people for past poor decisions.

widespread reactionary backlash towards an artistic movement is one of the most reliable heuristics that it is going to be canonized in art history forever

@SHL0MS weird take. esp. considering the influence trashart had on the entire space. is it not global influence considering the connected nature of it? and would you call what the impressionists, surrealists, and dadaists went through just "drama" too.

@SHL0MS Pretty isolated space at that point. Some of the biggest collectors in the space would create endless threads and articles about how bad TRASH Art was for CryptoArt Along with @robness getting kicked off of @SuperRare Tagging @secondrealm for his knowledge on the backlash

in 2020, before PFPs, 10ks, beeple, metakovan, and apes, existed, remixing was considered a scam, theft, and "trash" art. in fact, three artists were banned from SuperRare b/c of it (later voted back onto the platform 2 years later by the $RARE community. you can thank trashart for pushing the boundaries and and being the progenitor of remix and CC0 culture in Web3 before it became beneficial to do so. in fact born out of trashart was the altpunk movement as well. i don't think it's too far of a stretch to say that the space eventually adopted what the trashart artists were punished for. thus i'd argue, cannonized. but credit has never been something the cryptoart space does well unless it pays well. more about the history of trashart: legacy.secondrealm.com/posts/trash-ar… more about the history of altpunks: legacy.secondrealm.com/posts/altpunks/

@Jay_Delay i'm talking about beyond the confines of crypto art and even then didn't see much of a backlash

in 2025 i published a study on AI in the workplace that identified that people fear loss of agency more than than job loss. it's not surprising that we're seeing this type of resistance b/c companies are mandating it from the top-down. and not involving workers in the decision making process.

feeling drawn to anthropology more these days from an academic perspective. my career in UX design/research underpins this. but i also think my work over the last 7 years in cryptoart lends itself to an ethnographic lens. even my reasons for studying labor and tech do as well.
