on where we are / idiots and scarcity sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we nowhere near the comfortable part of our history yet. digital art on the blockchain is still a knife fight in a parking lot compared to the centuries of institutional momentum traditional art has behind it. we are still tiny. still early. still mocked. still wildly underestimated, and perhaps even more misunderstood. so no, i’m not interested in sitting quietly in a corner making scarcity-optimized pieces hoping the old world eventually validates us. fuck that. i want this medium to win. and winning requires force. energy. experimentation. obsession. people willing to build loud enough, weird enough, ambitiously enough that the world cannot ignore what’s happening here anymore. that’s why i make work every day, incessantly. that’s why i build systems. games. stories. mechanics. chaos. participatory art. internet-native experiences. because every one of those things is a distribution vehicle for the medium itself. every one is another chance to pull someone deeper into this world and show them that onchain art can do things physical art never could. i do not believe cryptoart is a phase. i think it is a new creative frontier. a new canvas. a new set of rails for how art lives and moves through humanity. and if we want that future, we creators and collectors have to bend the world to our will. drag it into existence ourselves. nobody is coming to hand it to us. so yeah. i’m going to keep showing up every day. exhausted or inspired. confident or terrified. i’m going to keep pushing this boulder uphill with everyone else insane enough to believe this matters. because i would rather die swinging for the future of this medium than politely wait for permission or acceptance from a world that still doesn’t understand what’s coming. thank you for coming to my ted talk. no further questions or comments at this time. except this : if you don’t like what i do or how i do it or how often i do it… floor it and get the actual fuck out.

i never thought I’d be on the other end of one of his wonderful interviews but here we are. thank you @Jediwolf for everything you’ve done for me and the space at large. really honored 🖤

1/14 In this interview @m0dest___ says there is no "secret ingredient". But the interview itself feels like one. Artists, collectors - take a few minutes to read it. You’ll enjoy it and you’ll learn a lot 🧵

Just saying !!! It seems that the TL is flooded with lores of @modest and all the wonderful emotions that people who have come to meet his art share. But this post is my moment of shame, an apology and a confession. Mostly triggered by a recent post made by @killianmoore_ Yes @m0dest___ this one is an apology to you and yours. Since late 2020s I had prided myself on finding artists and work, completely ignoring the PFP rage and ‘big names’ who already had a support network. I was at that time inspired by @sminnam and many other collectors, who were stepping away from the hype, finding and supporting artists who had exceptional talent but had no visibility or voice. In all of this, I never could find modest. So when Killian mentioned how they connected and how the relationship build - I was and am still tearful. Even though I connected with @killianmoore_ ages ago, I am since that post so jealous of him. I missed that opportunity to grow with an artist. I still do not know if @modest is he or they. Where they are based. Forget how they look or sound. Most times my DMs to him do not even provoke a response. I miss the drops. I cannot afford secondary. But @modest realizes that I am a fan and a big one. And then suddenly without letting me know he will gift me something he has bought, or add my addy or simply say - I got you. Sorry, I am a highly emotional person. These relationships matter to me and it comes from a place of mad respect, undying admiration and bottomless love. 🥺🥺😢😢 Seriously !!

really grateful to bob for collecting these pieces today. he’s been around my work for a while now - since error messages, if i’m not mistaken - and i’ve always appreciated that he seems to show up when the work is asking a lot of me, artistically, technically, or both. and when he does, it feels intentional. that matters. especially with pieces like these, where a lot of me went into making them. thank you bob.

please stand for the apocalypse, the bigger picture i’ve been watching the response to please stand for the apocalypse over the last week. i see the excitement, and i also see the frustration from some of you who missed out or feel the mechanics were tight/broken/unfair. i hear you, and i want to address it directly. first, i want to talk about the distribution. i made highly deliberate choices behind the scenes to try and make the distribution of these pieces as fair and balanced as possible, while honoring one core principle: loyalty. for the last two and a half years, through bear markets, quiet periods, and pivots, there is a core group of you who have held the line. i wanted to make sure those people were rewarded. i know some of the mechanics and decisions have made some collectors unhappy. i understand why. but in my heart, prioritizing the people who have supported me the longest is the right thing to do, and it is a hill i am willing to stand on. because of that, i am making a structural adjustment. i am adding to the supply of the 13th piece. if you have collected the full set of 12, you are getting the 13th piece airdropped to your wallet. period. if you’re pissed - sorry. floor it and gtfo. but here is the most important thing i need you to understand : some of you are looking at please stand for the apocalypse as a standalone art series. a cool detour. you need to look closer. these 12 pieces are not an isolated gallery. they are/ will be functional, mechanical parts of the death & taxes ecosystem. i am not going to give away the alpha or explain exactly how they plug into the architecture just yet, but you need to know that holding these pieces serves a very specific purpose for what comes next. there is a master plan here. every contract, every piece of art, and every mechanic is moving into a specific position. even if you can’t see the full architecture of the board yet, i need you to keep the bigger picture in mind. the game is expanding. hold onto your pieces. pay your taxes. buckle the f up. if you’re mad about supply / mechanics / distribution - sorry. I did the best I could. all I can say is - just wait to see what happens next. i love all of you endlessly. Except axxaxx - the rest of the project will also be about making sure you are hung out to dry. hope the few hundred bucks you made off my back was worth it. your run ends here. see you all on the other side. m

jobs not finished. now... there were quite a few of you who submitted and weren't selected. i know how much that sucks, and as hard as i try to be fair and objective, there are always collectors that feel left out/wronged/pissed off/etc. in an effort to share my gratitude for the support, < please stand for the apocalypse xiii > has been minted and will ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO WERE NOT SELECTED FOR THE OTHER PIECES. if you'd like to mint an edition and you were not selected in the previous lottery - drop your address below. (except if you were one of the people that told me to fuck off - you can kick rocks) there will be no exceptions, sorry. glhf

🚨 DONALD TRUMP JUST POSTED THIS: The 48-hour ultimatum became a 5-day ceasefire. 48 hours ago he was threatening to destroy Iran’s power plants. Now he’s postponing military strikes for 5 days. I’m expecting a short-term bounce and the downtrend to continue.

on believing in something. today was one of the most surreal and humbling days of my life as an artist. today with transient labs help i deployed all of the onchain mechanics for death & taxes. i spent the day watching the project come alive. taxes being paid, citizens being audited, players being eliminated. the mechanics worked exactly as intended. amidst all this, "homer" was collected for a 5.19 eth collection ath by @AdamWeitsman. tbh i think initially it was mostly about the art, which i appreciate tremendously, but ive since learned he really understands the vision. beyond the volume and the activity, what actually moved me was seeing hundreds of people genuinely enjoying this experience because of the art. hunting for things they love. sharing with friends. people actually having fun in nfts. imagine that. all of these things made me reflect on a few questions - and reinforced everything I believe to be true about onchain art. so i wanted to share although I know no one reads. > if this is fundamentally a game of strategy, why does the art even matter? because the art is the soul of the system. if this were just a spreadsheet of wallets, no one would feel anything. the visual identity of the citizens is what makes people care. acquiring homer, or a skull or a clown or james brown or tired keanu isn’t just a strategic move, it is an emotional one. the art is the anchor that makes the cold mechanics mean something. > could an experience like this exist offchain? nope. i don't believe so. if i built this on a centralized server, you would have to trust me. you would have to trust that the rules were fair and the stakes were real. the blockchain removes that barrier entirely. the infrastructure provided by this technology acts as an impartial physical law. the permanence of the ledger gives every action real weight. > what happens when you wrap a game in a community with verifiable ownership and real consequences? you get something that transcends a traditional game. when a player audits a neighbor, it is not a simulated event on a private server. it is an immutable transaction that lives forever. giving the community tools backed by smart contracts turns passive observers into deeply invested participants in a shared, permanent narrative. > why will no one ever sway my belief in onchain art? because today i watched a community breathe life into a concept that is only possible through this technology. without blockchains, digital art is passive. building this onchian fundamentally changes the medium. through a funny little pixelated character - it allows us to attach absolute provenance, real stakes, and community driven consequences to a digital canvas. the technology is an active participant in the art itself. bananas. impossible. other than here. right now. so. to everyone who minted, to mr weitsman for seeing something special in homer, gpebbles, Thor, conviction, shiny rocks, and others for minting 100s of citizens, to anyone who shared, supported and to everyone engaging with this system today: thank you. you took an idea from my head and turned it into a living reality that feels like it might carve out a little spot in a chapter of cryptoart history. i have never been more grateful. back to work. 🖤 ₥
