if you wish your ex to have a downward spiral after she leaves you, even if she cheated on you, know that that is ultimately a reflection of the purity of your own soul and only your soul. the most pure wish no one ill will, even a most vile enemy and wrongdoer. any time you feel hostility toward someone, even if it is “justified”, know that you still have work to do, then kiss them on the forehead for revealing that to you.
fran@galacticidiots

I don’t know much at all but one thing I have learned, one thing I know for a fact and that I will never doubt, is that to love someone is to wish them well. No matter what. You wish them well, you wish them cared for, you wish them happy. With or without you.

Curiosity is stronger than love. A reporter asked him, “How so?” “I’m 94 years old, and I got married at 23. But at 46, my wife left me. She told me that she had become invisible now… that I was working too much and I wasn’t paying enough attention to her anymore. I told her that it wasn’t possible, that I loved her more than everything, and it was true but… that’s when she asked me: do you know when was the last time you came to see me play bridge? I didn’t know how to answer, and she said… ‘It’s normal. You never came.’ And she left. So I made a decision… In the months that followed, I signed up for bridge lessons and… I learned how to play, I practiced, I researched, and one day… I saw there was going to be a tournament near our home. So I signed up and… She was in the other team. I was seeing her for the first time in nearly a year… Of course, she beat me. But I saw a feeling in her eyes that I hadn’t seen for a long time. Gratitude. So at the end, I went to see her and I told her… ‘If you agree to give me a second chance, I’ll never miss any of your competitions again.’ I kept my word. She passed away 8 years ago but… She taught me the most precious of the lessons: “Love isn’t enough, you have to know how to show it.”

If you never take advantage of your selfish years you live the rest of your life in quiet resentment bc responsibilities outside yourself constantly rob you of focus. You realise you fuelled the desires of others so much you ran out of gas and undershot your own life trajectory.

Women, particularly maghrebi women are so anti-culture Whenever they see an opportunity, they rant over : - Religion - Male relatives - National identity - Sexuality - State's foreign policy - Lack of immigrants They're ALWAYS lining themselves up with cultural neoliberalism
lina@dekziin

islam in algeria is mostly based on culture rather than the real deen nd if u don't follow cultural practices (bid'ah) u're considered a bad muslim. i remember someone called me ملحدة cuz i said islam does not obligate women to do housework and men should help with them too

All this and you’re still making five yr plans. All this and you still worry about double texting. All this and you’re still counting calories and sucking in your stomach. All this and you still can’t forgive your parents. All this and you’re still waiting for someone to go first

An entire new world opens up for you once you find the courage to be bored. Treasure hides in the thoughts you fear. But if you numb your boredom and run from it, then you guarantee your potential in life will never be realised. Constant stimulation or your best life. Up to you

dude the fact that people are like “are you saying I should be an asshole?” is exactly the issue here. so many people don’t know how to be candid + tactful at the same time and can only imagine the worst version of honesty
Ava@noampomsky

so much relational damage is caused by the need to appear to be “the good guy” in the situation. if you can be like “listen I get this might seem selfish and unfair but this is how I really feel” you’re often being far more altruistic

there is no such thing as “marital rape” in Islam. This idea is propaganda. Marriage and rape are fundamentally contradictory and cannot be equated..

a friend told me she didn't want to recite the qur'an because apparently she would be sinning by doing so when on her period like do you people hear how insane that sounds?? this is no more than the abuse of the words of god and his messenger by a regressive tradition

@Al_Hatf_ @seeking2sc @SmartRandomGuy To be fair he didn’t say anything regarding that, he said that they reject Mawlid for the same reasons as the Salafis, which is true. They both regard it as bid’ah because it’s not Quranically grounded.
