Hes rejiggering the entire energy and commodities flow system. Yes. Were talking Siberian tunnel, A canal across Dubai, nuclear. We are already producing more oil than Saudi and Russia combined. Etc etc. Tariffs are key, and the metals trade. This is why I sleep at night. NO ONE in the MSM gets it, or they do and they arent supposed to talk about it.

@nybct being more mad about some supposed racism in this instance, rather than trump’s blatantly authoritarian necessity to qualify any reporter as either “good” or “bad”, depending on their fealty to him, is maximum cringe radlib shit

Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump to the Japanese PM as a reporter with an accent tries to ask him a question: "This looks like one of your people right here. Is he good or bad?"

As someone who worked at Reality Labs: the Metaverse had real legs but was obliterated by middle management completely out of touch with how young people actually use technology. I built a V1 tool that game developers genuinely needed, and the moment it was done, it got shipped to a team in London (to die), and I was reassigned to a "higher-priority project" that zero developers asked for. Multiply that by every team, and you'll understand why this never took off yet cost 80 billion.
@

JUST IN: Meta announces they'll be shutting down the Metaverse, after pouring $80,000,000,000.00 into the project.

@_claypot kind of a shame that people only remember ctrl+alt+delete and not the other webcomics of that era like Awkward Zombie, Brawl in the Family, VG Cats, etc

Epic post, whoever the hell you are. Yes, open borders is a retarded policy. Especially when you’re taking in a bunch of war torn military age fighting men. Now tell me, was that before or after the US launched 6 wars of aggression that slaughtered millions of innocent people?
@

Epic post Dave, hey btw Sweden has no history of fighting in the Middle East and in fact was the first country in the EU to recognize Palestine as a state, so surely that means they don’t have hordes of violent Muslims joining rape gangs and driving trucks into people, right?

“dark money” isn’t “any entity that could theoretically hide funds ever,” because that describes literally every LLC, private C-corp, S-corp, family trust, family office, partnership, holding company, or even many public companies with subsidiaries. by this logic, almost every corporation on earth is “dark money” actual dark money: 1. anonymous donors we KNOW are hidden (no disclosure required or given) 2. known partisan political purpose (ads, influence ops, rapid-response messaging) the 1630 fund checks both of the above boxes—the Reporters in Residence program checks neither it's funded by one named billionaire (Pierre & Pam Omidyar), supports non-partisan journalism, the journalists maintain full editorial independence, and the purpose of their corporate structure is NOT to obscure donors the screenshot Destiny shared here shows that 1630 gave $45,024 to an Omidyar Network LLC arm in 2022 for “civil rights, social action, advocacy.” he uses this screenshot to suggest that she could potentially be funded by dark money (or is). the problem is that the Reporters in Residence program didn’t even exist yet—it was founded in 2023 (Taylor didn't join until 2025). the journalists get $50,000 over 6 months and the classes for the fellowships are MULTIPLE people, so one $45k grant from 2022 cannot possibly be a source of her funding 3 years later lmao. it's a drop in the bucket compared to what their actual source likely is (primarily just Omidyar) Omidyar’s official statement (still up): “Omidyar Network receives no funding for the Reporters in Residence program via The Sixteen Thirty Fund or any other outside sources.” AND, even if you stretch it, this is a red herring. Lorenz’s article wasn’t “any dark money ever = bad.” it was about the tandem of hidden anonymous political money AND gag contracts AND zero transparency to creators/public. her fellowship has none of that and has NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING. this entire “but you get dark money too!”, while being factually untrue, is also just a gigantic red herring that completely sidesteps the core point being made in the article (which is about transparency) maybe for the rest of time we should just pretend @TaylorLorenz DOES take dark money if it would force people to actually engage with the substance of what she wrote about?

@seetheisolate @kilotonics I'm telling you you're conflating the concept of "non-partisan" with "bi-partisan" based on this response "how many right-leaning journalists are in the program?" you don't need to shadowbox and deflect.

@comicbooksmart @kilotonics so now “dark money political motivations” or whatever are *only* bad if they align with either of the 2 major political parties? is that what you’re trying to say 2 me?

Masayoshi Takanaka is among the most recognizable names in jazz fusion, but only among listeners in their 60s. In Japan, jazz fusion itself is considered uncool and is now a niche genre.

@allofTAKANAKA who are the popular jazz fusion artists in Japan?
