Miró tenia 20 anys i Gaudí... 61! Mai és tard per a aprendre. Fil 🔥

No importa cuánto griten.

Hedy Lamarr, the 1940s film icon is often called "the most beautiful woman in the world." Without Hedy’s mathematical contribution to "frequency hopping," we likely wouldn't have the secure versions of the technologies we use every single day, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

Richard von Mises was botd in 1883, in Lemberg, or Lwów, now Lviv. He was the originator of the "birthday problem": this asks for the probability that, in a set of n randomly chosen people, at least two will share the same birthday. Strangely enough you only need 23 people for that probability to exceed 50%. His nice little book on Positivism can be read here archive.org/details/positi…

Avui hem col·locat noves llambordes Stolpersteine a #Lleida per recordar els lleidatans i lleidatanes deportats als camps nazis.

There is a bookshop in Rabat that measures five feet by five feet. Inside it, every morning since 1967, sits a man reading. His name is Mohamed Aziz. He is 72. He was orphaned at six, pulled out of school at fifteen because he couldn't afford the textbooks, and decided to have his revenge. The revenge was this: he opened a bookshop and taught himself to read in seven languages, one book at a time, with no teacher and no classroom. Arabic. French. Spanish. German. Italian. English. He discusses Dostoevsky the way other men discuss football. He has read more than five thousand books. open.substack.com/pub/gandalv/p/…

Increïble! Encara aguanta!

43 years ago, on April 18 1983, a suicide bomber struck the US Embassy in Beirut. It wasn't just an attack. It was a birth certificate: Hezbollah announcing itself to the world in blood. The architect was Hezbollah’s military leader Imad Mughniyeh. And what he invented that day wasn't just a weapon. It was a methodology. In the early 90s, he exported it to Hamas and Al Jihad in the West Bank: suicide bombings timed precisely to blow up the Oslo peace process, to ensure that every window toward a negotiated future was closed in fire. He exported it further. His operatives trained Osama bin Laden's men in Sudan. The technique Mughniyeh perfected in Beirut was deployed by Al Qaeda against the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam in 1998. Mughniyeh’s slaughter school then reached Iraq, where it became the signature of a generation of blood letting. One man. One tactic. One unbroken chain from Beirut 1983 to the wreckage of an entire region. What followed in Lebanon was four decades of systematic destruction: a state hollowed out, a people held hostage, a country conscripted into wars that were never its to fight. Today, for the first time in a generation, that project is broken. The question Lebanon faces now isn't whether peace with Israel is desirable. It's whether Lebanon has the courage to choose itself, its sovereignty, its future, its children, over the ruins of an ideology that only ever delivered coffins. This is the window. It won't stay open forever. 🔴Ayman Baalbaki's depiction of the 1983 US Embassy bombing in Beirut.
