Super nice Nimi 😌✨ (SPN)
this epistle because of madueke?
AI@nonewthing

I am tired of explaining the Noni Madueke transfer to people who only see an awkward shooter and a sugar rush player. Madueke is not a dribbler or a technical reference like a Saka or a Semenyo. He was meant to give Arsenal another option to stretch the depth and hit the box like Martinelli. Why did Arsenal need another runner like Martinelli? Because of counterattacks, which was a weakness of the team. Arsenal needed another fast guy beyond Martinelli in the squad. Now, we needed this player to be left footed and RW-dominant because it would be a waste of money & wages to sign a LW like Martinelli while Martinelli was still here. It makes sense to sign someone who plays on the other side for balance and also to cover for Saka. It was also important to sign this player as one who could play both sides for versatility reasons. That way they can still have a hope of playing even if Saka was on the pitch. Now, Martinelli has a limit to his ceiling at Arsenal. It might surprise you to hear it but it’s simply that Martinelli is not physical enough. What do you mean Martinelli is not physical enough? Think about classic wide runners who used to score a lot of goals from out wide. Think about what distinguishes all of them. Son. Cristiano. Mbappe. Barcola. Unstoppable physicality often typified by pace to press the advantage & long legs to get around bodies when they are shooting. Martinelli has the pace but not the long legs. When he has enough room, he can finish exactly like Henry. But when that room is no longer there, his shots feel predictable. It is because he doesn’t have the legs to wrap around bodies trying to block him. There are other aspects of physicality that are useful for this role. Size, for instance. It’s why Cristiano, Son, Rashford are so dominant in the box. You can’t push them off and they have more reach. While Martinelli is certainly no slouch physically, it still leaves room for improvement. There are other things, too. Son, Rashford etc were especially good at getting their shots off because they could also manipulate their bodies really nicely to beat an isolated defender in the box. Martinelli is a little stiff & upright and so can be limited in this respect. This is not to defame Martinelli who is still quite physical in static situations for his jumping power, heading skills and placement intuition. But this means he’s just above average and not exceptional physically. Just compare him with a Barcola for instance. Now, guess who has all of these attributes and was somehow on the market? Exactly. Noni Madueke. Big, fast, can manipulate, jump, and has long reach with his legs. He is essentially a monster forward in the making. Now, in the absence of a technical reference in the team when he is on the pitch, Madueke is unfortunately forced to play like Saka. But he is not Saka. He is a nearly unstoppable goal getter. His shooting which feels a little off when he has to come inside from the right will look much better when he is on the left and has the option of going direct with his left foot or dribbling a little inside for more space. Think Raphinha or Sane LW. Arsenal signed Madueke for £48.5M. If you think about what other physical runners have gone for in the Premier League, you realize how much of a steal this is. —Tottenham signed Johnson for £48M —Brentford signed Outtara for £42M —Newcastle signed Elanga for £52M —Chelsea signed Garnacho for £40M None of these players are better than Madueke. Most of them have lesser pedigree than Madueke. Arsenal will likely sell Martinelli for northwards of £50M if they are ever to sell. Using these benchmarks, the Madueke deal was one of the best deals on the market for that profile of player. Arsenal couldn’t have done better. Unfortunately, most people cannot think clearly like this at all. Hence professional transfer business at the highest level remains a mystery to them.

People like this kill me because Enzo is the only player in our squad who isn’t allowed to not score, assist, create chances, playmake well, win duels etc. He’s the only one who needs to do *everything* to not get shat on, meanwhile others do one thing well and they’re the faves.

I keep saying it, you can’t just replace a player like Enzo Fernandez. You can’t find all his attributes in the same body of another person that’s why there’s only 1 of him What a performance!

Enzo’s performance outside of the goal in that half shows me that we are not honest enough about Cole Palmer. Not once this season has he facilitated for his teammates or kept the ball flowing like this for an entire half. And Enzo is supposed to be the one who’s bad between the lines.
