The 13th Amendment was approved by Congress and signed as a joint resolution by President Abraham Lincoln on February 1, 1865.
It was subsequently ratified by the required number of states and officially became part of the U.S. Constitution on December 6, 1865.
Constitutional amendments do not require a president's signature, but Lincoln signed the document to show his full support for the abolition of slavery.
