@ryanwinchester Is the thing next to C supposed to be bash, or any Posix style shellscript? Or maybe some (often non-posix) newfangled thing like ZSH or fish? Powershell? Either way, don’t really agree with having it S tier😅

now the main question is why the Java version is faster than the GO one Java took 2.1 min and GO took 3.26 nin

@VictoriqueM Some things I can think off: Java by default uses 32-bit ints even on 32-bit platforms. Golang will use 64-bit ints on a 64 bit platform. Even on 64-bit x86, 32-bit microcode is likely faster. Debug symbols. Try stripping them. Java might do some clever runtime things.

@Aaronia_AG What about that SMA(?) connector? How on earth does that support 110 GHz w/o massive insertion losses?

@svpino I like it as a replacement for Excel / spreadsheets. Not that useful for repl / code testing though IMHO. Rule of thumb: if keeping the output of an operation in the file sounds like a killer feature, it’s a good fit. Otherwise (e.g. the “git unfriendly” argument) it’s prob not.

@NavinFS @eevblog When you’re working with transients that are faster than the auto-ranging frequency can deal with, you need manual ranging. E.g measuring supply current of a MCU going through low power modes.

@eevblog In the last 5 years I've never found a single use case for manual ranging on my BM869s. Seems like an unnecessary footgun

Two reported faults in my meters in the last day. In both cases the user was in the wrong mode. Pro Tip 1: Continuity mode doesn't measure resistance above hundreds of ohms. Try the actual ohms range. Pro Tip 2: Ohms mode doesn't measure resistance above the Manual Range you have selected. Try the Autoranging mode.

@Jan03071218 @QVHenkel @servomechanica I’ve used eC stencil fix at work. IMHO it’s more suitable for small scale production than prototyping. Aligning it and tensioning the stencil takes quite some time to set up. Great ones set up correctly, but often some trial and error goes into the first few boards.

@QVHenkel @servomechanica I was about to print out one of those(vacuum cleaner operated) as well. Which one failed you? Another alternative I'm considering is eC-stencil-fix .

I've tried a new paste printing setup and the results do not look great 😬 For this board I'm going back to my trusty stencil printer

@thembeddevguy @citcsmobile It should also be noted that 0% on your phone is not the same as 0 V. Most lithium batteries have protections built in to prevent the battery from depleting beyond a certain points. Also, phones need a certain minimal voltage in order to operate.

@citcsmobile It can burst into flames much later too, even if it’s idle. Overcharging and/or mechanical damage can start the reaction. Discharging to zero volts can prevent it. (All lithium goes into the stable, low-energy chemical bond, and puncture the cell for a good measure)

An observation I left out of my earlier thread on the xz back door: Autotools. Must. Die. The complexity and obscurity of autotools build recipes was essential to the way the malicious code was concealed and inserted in the release tarball.

@Jeffrey_Roe @TOG_Dublin @RediscoveryCtr That looks fixable. Idealy by glueing back the pads and the part with high temp. liquid epoxy. Alternatively, glueing the part in place with regular superglue and rebuilding the connections with some wires.

@nonorrienocry @TOG_Dublin @Prusa3D Time will tell. The best thing about 3d prints is that if they break, you can print them again. I printed the replacement out of ABS, the first prototypes were made out of resin and were far too fragile. Arguably, the original nylon part was also not durable enough 😅

@Rickey5320601 @Lrac_carL @Ghyan0 @InternetH0F This is the same type of backwards thinking that makes rape the victim’s fault because “they should dress less provocatively”. Driving a bike is inherently putting yourself at risk and at the mercy of drivers of big vehicles. If drivers break this trust, it breaks down society.

@Lrac_carL @Ghyan0 @InternetH0F Seems like reading comprehension is low on X; I in no way said the driver was right to hit the biker. I was acknowledging the fact that even though something is legal it is not always optimal. In the future the biker will probably use the right side of his lane to protect himself
