Tony Hawk reveals turning down $500,000 from Activision was the best financial decision of his life
"When they were close to launching the game, they started to sense that there was buzz about it. It was already getting good reviews from previews and they felt this surge of interest"
"They offered me a buyout of future royalties right before the game launched. They offered me half a million dollars. They said you get that right now and then no money going forward"
"No one had ever spoken those types of numbers to me before, but I felt like I was in a pretty good place. I was doing well in other ways. I was still skating a lot, doing events, I had good endorsements, and I thought I'm gonna take a risk and I don't need that money right now"

Thinking today.
When I was growing up in Washington, as more transplants moved in, people would ask me where my accent was from. They would be taken back when I said I was born and raised here. Who cares how I pronounced my “r’s”.
In my twenties, having lived in Texas, Texans thought I came from some small town there.
They even gave me the nickname “Boomhauer”.
Reflecting on this today because when I moved back I met someone that grew up in the Columbia Plateau region, almost nearly the same as me, with an interesting sound to their speech, too, that resembled mine.
It was like meeting a long lost relative.

@ser_brian @brettskireal This guy loses most days and forsure every year I watch his YouTube videos. Shove your conspiracies in a sack.

@25YearsAgoLive I hated bionicle from the start. Didn’t like having legos with different aesthetics

@johnarnold I tried this. The baristas make all the drive through drinks first, so it’s not a win
