Apparently we’re “so weird” to believe the gospel. Heaven is not a reward for the righteous, it’s a gift for the guilty.

The claim misrepresents the gospel. No biblical Christian teaches that we should sin as much as we want. Grace does not grant permission to continue in sin. It delivers us from both the penalty and the power of sin. We stand guilty before God because we have broken His holy law. The gospel does not pretend our sins are unimportant or that later good behavior can erase them. Instead, it announces that Jesus took the punishment we deserved. He became sin for us so that the sentence could be fully carried out on Him. This does not mean we are suddenly without sin in ourselves. It means the penalty has been paid by another. When we trust in Christ, we are brought into a new relationship with God as His children. We do not obey Him in order to earn heaven or to cancel our guilt. We obey because we love Him. True faith does not produce a desire to keep sinning. It produces a new heart that wants to please the One who saved us.

Simple Bible Truth #467 - A Christian can’t lose their salvation. Salvation is a gift. Salvation depends on the righteousness of Christ and not the believer’s righteousness. And no one can take the believer out of the Father’s hand… including the believer.
