@Ed_In_America The LSB can be looked at like an update to the NASB 95. Also, it has YHWH listed in the Old Testament instead of LORD so that you can see when it is used. Take a quick glance at an OT passage on Biblehub and you'll see what I mean. 😀

@HHS3239 I got an ESV last fall and have been reading it this time. I really like it. The 1995 NASB is one of my favorites. I was raised on KJV. I have used it and the '84 NIV for several years together. I was curious about the LSB. What makes you include it?

The KJV by a country mile. (Although I own many)
For the record my dream is a parallel of KJV, ESV, LSB, (4th translation for the parallel yet to be decided). I keep hoping. 🙏🏾

Boasting in public is what they do no matter how many errors they state. It's the sad state of affairs today. They'll correct everyone but themselves.

@CatholicPrimer I can DM you later. You see, I'm genuinely tired of certain EO telling me of my lack of knowledge and they don't even know the last attempt that the EO made to even discuss their Biblical Canon. They don't read on it because of where they are.

I will be fair to both sides.
From the outside, the lack of a single fixed canon across EO jurisdictions can look like a lack of consensus, and therefore a challenge to the Church’s unity. Meaning, it doesn’t have the “oneness” mark of the true Church.

This is what I get 99% of the time when EO have to source. It's like it's a complete foreign concept to them. And this is AFTER they claim YOU know nothing! 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

@CatholicPrimer I have 1 issue with the thread. You said EO don't see it as an issue. That's not true, even though it is parroted online often by EO laity.
This is what makes the issue hard to talk about. It's the layman that thinks there is no issue, but that's not the case for the studied.

Does your church, in an ecumenical council or dogmatic pronouncement, declare a deuterocanon for the whole church?

@HHS3239 @JPuncut @Alex_Ortodoxie Now Greece may add the maccabees and sirach etc Serbia might add the protoevangelion of James etc this is not scripture hence deuterocanon, a second canon for personal reading, not part of our liturgies which is the highest honor a physical thing can receive

I literally said the deuterocanon is where traditions VARY meaning yes you can’t find one place it’s “affirmed” rather you can find places where the individual jurisdictions affirmed their deuterocanons

You can believe the KJV is the most accurate translation all you want. That does not make it true.
Any familiarity with the evolution of language over time, translation philosophy, or textual criticism will reveal it simply is not the most accurate. Neither is the NKJV.

You want to disagree with me? Fine. I still love you as a sibling in Christ. No need to get angry or divisive about it. But I contend with every fiber of my being the the King James Bible is the MOST accurate English translation. By a SUBSTANTIAL margin!

@BaptistClips Tbf, I have actually met someone who uses a Duay Rheims. I have also met someone who uses a NAB.
It's Ultra Rare, but I have seen it. Just trying to be fair. Not really arguing with the rest of what was said.
