There’s this phenomenon where younger artists copy certain stylization quirks(?) from artists they like… but they don’t actually know what it’s meant to be stylizing so it ends up looking out of place

I think it's important for people to understand that a sketch is more about the depiction of a rough idea than it is a "messy version" of something. I see a lot of artist get caught up in how their sketch (should) look but it's more about planning than execution.
