To play devil’s advocate, I think it’s just one throwaway comment and he’s just being theorical on « exploring any potential use » and doesn’t have a good knowledge of the tech and its limits. He just showed he worked for a month on preparing a detailed and coherent 3d village. He has very obvious quality standards and I’m fairly sure he’d never replace his character art by AI either. Even if you put aside ethics questions, AI is just unable to to generate scenes consistently and coherently like 3d does. It’s only superficially ”better” on the speed’s side but it’s not a logical long term choice for a manga.
