Paradoxically, this is why $TSLA has been range stuck for a while now. Two opposing forces. On the one hand, the future revenue drivers are right there in sight. Massive robotaxi fleets, and a $2B huge Optimus factory being assembled as I type for 10M bots per year. Should send the stock price higher. On the other hand, the stock price is very very nervous since these huge bets might go bust. Tesla Robotaxi could fail to take off and Optimus could turn out to be a way harder problem. The last huge $TSLA rally was back in 2020 when the Model 3 (no Y yet) finally got through production hell and started selling in volume. The promise was there, but so was the risk. Elon himself has admitted many times that the company was on the verge of bankruptcy if they couldn’t get the production line working properly. So here we are again. I was wondering why Tesla was acquiring such a huge cash war chest, about $45B. Partly it’s because of their long list of capital projects (eg. Optimus and Terafab), but it’s also a cushion in case any of these bets takes longer than expected to become profitable. Elon hasn’t changed one bit. He continues to make big bold existential bets on the company. If they work, hang on for the ride up, if they don’t, watch out below 😅
