I watched The Day After when it aired on November 20, 1983. I was 10. I lived through the Cold War, the first Gulf War, 9/11, 2008, and every war in between. I have never been this pessimistic. We have never had a leader this disconnected from reality, this corrupt, and this controlled. Every previous crisis had adults somewhere in the room. This one doesn't.
