Defining the Canadian dream 🇨🇦 Italian immigrants boarded ships and braved storms to arrive in “the new world.” They brought with them their faith, family, and the indispensable forza (strength) in their hands and hearts. We were proud to recognize their contribution to our country at @Italchambers Dinner with Premier @fordnation and @MCirielloMPP.

Ontario is lucky to have benefited from Caroline Mulroney’s calm and steady leadership in Cabinet, having served as attorney general, minister of transportation and most recently minister of francophone affairs and president of Treasury Board. Caroline leaves behind a record she can be immensely proud of: a historic funding agreement for the largest expansion of public transit in North America, disciplined fiscal policies that are helping to keep our economy competitive while investing in critical frontline services and a strong and thriving Francophone community across the province, to name only a few. Caroline is more than a colleague: she is a close personal friend. I will miss seeing her sitting across from me at the Cabinet table and in caucus meetings. Politics is in Caroline’s blood. The Ontario PC Party and our conservative movement will no doubt continue to benefit from her ideas and ideals. Here’s to an exciting next chapter for Caroline and her family.

Yesterday, I informed Premier Ford of my decision to resign from Cabinet and from my seat in the Ontario Legislature, effective June 5. To Premier Ford, to the people of York-Simcoe, to Ontario’s Francophone community, to the York-Simcoe PC riding association, to my Caucus and Cabinet colleagues, to my constituency and ministerial teams, to the Ontario Public Service and my family – thank you.

Villa Colombo was the home away from home for many Italians who immigrated to Canada. It represents tradition, family, unity across our immigrant story and pride in Canada. Proud to support the cyclists and volunteers at the annual @Villa_Charities Giro — raising over $150,000 to keep those enduring Italo-Canadian values alive.

I had an elderly patient in the ER the other day: lost his house, living out of his car, drinking more than he should.., in rough shape. I asked him what he used to do for a living. "Draftsman at Ontario Hydro." I probed further. Turns out his career included drawing up blueprints for every one of Ontario's nuclear power plants. I told him I was interested in nuclear power, which he interpreted as me being an anti. "Yeah, a lot of people don't like it" I clarified my position and thanked him for being a part of the great generation that helped to build the infrastructure that underpins our wealth and prosperity to this day. He looked surprised. His eyes lit up with pride and a sense of dignity which shone through his dishevelled appearance lying sick in an emergency room hospital bed. As my generation struggles to build megaprojects: light rail, subways and yes nuclear power plants, we owe a debt of gratitude to our parents and grandparents who so competently worked their fingers to the bone to provide us with the infrastructure that underlies our material comforts. The overhead lights in that hospital hallway, reflected in that man's eyes as we chatted about more than just his broken body, were the fruits of his labour. As a society we finally seem to have reached a political consensus that we should not be tearing down the industrial cathedrals that have been built for us by this great generation: edifices like our nuclear power plants at Pickering, Darlington and Bruce. The champions of that kind of vandalism have been decisively defeated. Im glad to have played my role in that battle. Now it is time for a reorientation towards gratitude and appreciation. It is time for us to take inspiration and pick up our tools to get building for our children and grandchildren so that they too may prosper. It was an honour to care for this man, this builder, this patient and bring a sense of pride and a smile back to his face.

Strong and engaged parents are making the difference in Maple. Grateful to every one of them at the Maple Family of Schools for the hard work and embrace of values-based Catholic education. I also want to give a shoutout to Maple students for working with me to advocate for a Youth Mental Health Hub in Vaughan. Their voice mattered as we proudly stood together to open the doors last summer.

We are cracking down on illegal trucking operations across King and Vaughan. Grateful to work with @MayorPellegrini and @StevenDelDuca to advocate for tougher enforcement of penalties announced by @RobFlackEML and @PrabSarkaria, so we can ensure trucking operations respect the law, residents, and environment.
Rob Flack@RobFlackEML

Today in #Caledon, I was joined by my caucus colleagues and Mayor @AnnetteGroves_ to announce our government’s plan to crack down on illegal land uses, including truck depots operating on agricultural, rural, and residential lands.   Today is a win for locally-led solutions. Under Premier @fordnation, we will continue providing local officials with more tools to protect their communities.

This is what differentiates Ontario from the pact. From the world's largest nuclear refurb to one of Canada's largest battery storage projects, Ontario builds on-time and on-budget.

Ontario is powering growth with reliable, affordable and clean energy. Today, @Sflecce and @ricbresee_mpp announced the completion of one of Canada’s largest battery storage projects — delivered on-budget and five weeks ahead of schedule. Powering up to 250,000 homes during peak demand, the Napanee Battery Energy Storage System is one more project that is securing our province’s energy future for generations to come. 🔗: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100…

The era of blindly outsourcing critical technology to China is over. That is why our government is phasing out Chinese-made drones in government operations to protect Canadian data. We cannot be naive about the rising geopolitical risks at our doorstep. This common-sense policy by @fordnation and @stcrawford2 safeguards Canada's security and economic interests.
Laura Stone@l_stone

NEW: Ontario says it is restricting the use and purchase of Chinese-made drones “beginning with an immediate ban on the use of Chinese drones for highly sensitive OPP operations.” #onpoli

18 months ago, @ricbresee_mpp and I broke ground on one of Canada's largest energy storage projects. In lightning speed, today we officially completed and operationalized this $600M project ahead of schedule and on-budget.

Ontario’s Integrated Energy Plan lays the groundwork for economic growth for the next 25 years. A key feature of this plan is building Canada’s largest energy storage fleet. After completing a series of nuclear and transmission projects on time and on budget, @ricbresee_mpp, @tylerallsoppPC, @davidsmithmpp, and I were proud to announce another successful project at the Atura Napanee Battery Energy Storage System. cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…
